UA Land Management's primary role is to convert the University's grant land assets to investable income to support the University's educational mission and prudently manage land dedicated for educational purposes. A highly motivated and skilled Office & Business Manager is required to provide technical assistance to the Director of the Statewide Office of Land Management. This position will manage specific projects from inception to completion and will write grant proposals and create reports on grant awards for federal agencies. The Office & Business Manager will also provide support to all LM staff and various other UA Statewide departments as needed.
15% As the face of Statewide, serve as liaison with government and corporate entities, the general public, and UA Executives and staff.
Provide administrative support to F&LM staff and other SW Executives located at the BOC – Government Relations, Risk Services, and President’s Office. Support includes travel, procurement, event and meeting coordination, HR recruitment, time reporting, staff training sessions & problem solving with computer software and databases. Essential
25 % Grant Writing & Development.
Develop ideas for potential new grants and write proposals. Identify areas for additional funding. Conduct research for each new grant opportunity and analyze the data. Present the findings and the proposed grant application to Director and F&LM staff; then submit to the applicable agency. In response to each grant award, create and submit reports to the applicable federal agency and prepare detailed reports for distribution. Essential
25 Business Manager/Technical Support to Director of Facilities & Land Management.
Provide program oversight and technical assistance to the Director of Facilities and Land Management. Prepare quarterly and annual documents for Director’s report to the BOR and Executive Management.
Show UA properties to prospective buyers and tenants in an effort to market or lease up vacant space.
Coordinate and prepare documents for distribution at public workshops, government agencies, and private businesses. Attend public meetings as UAF&LM representative. Create reports from those events and make presentations to professional organizations and UA staff.
Create new F&LM marketing materials for wide dissemination such as an F&LM Brochure and an F&LM annual report on resource development, real estate sales and leases, and Land Grant Trust Fund balances. Together with other assigned F&LM staff, create Land Management’s new website to boost sales and leases of UA lands; take full charge to update and maintain that website. Essential
35% Implement and Manage Projects.
Identify, evaluate, develop, and manage a portfolio of projects within Land Management. Interpret and apply complex policies, rules, and regulations pertaining to UA and UA F&LM; ensure compliance. Advise management of potential problems/violations and formulate solutions to alleviate or correct them. For each assigned project, create business plans, cost benefit analyses including ROI and Net Profit, and feasibility assessments. Present those documents and findings to the Director and Senior Staff. Lead and oversee each assigned project to completion. Essential
Knowledge of BOR policies, state regulations (e.g. AAC), and federal laws with regard to UA land and resource development and sales. Ability to collect, analyze, and interpret data and create comprehensive reports from that data such as Business Plans and Feasibility Assessments. Be able to recognize and troubleshoot non-compliance issues with regard to F&LM policies on UA lands. Need basic knowledge of the granting process and federal reporting agency requirements. From self-conducted research data, create persuasive grant proposals and identify additional funding sources for the same. Need effective communication skills, both oral and written. Need advanced computer and database skills to create professional documents for publication and the ability to train others in that process.
This position requires 6 years (minimum) of progressive business administrative experience, with executive level administrative experience preferred.
TYPICAL EDUCATION OR TRAINING:
Bachelor’s Degree required and at least three years progressively responsible experience, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
