Are you a tech-savvy, goal-oriented person? This position resides in the University of Alaska Data Strategy and Institutional Research Office. This office is key providing decision-makers the information they need to promote and support decisions that meet requirements and improve success on behalf of the University of Alaska.
20 Serve as webmaster: Independently design, implement and maintain highly visible website; develop and communicate unit policy for website use and posting; provide guidance and training on proper website maintenance for specific content areas maintained by staff and to achieve day-to-day and long-term objectives. Serves as department expert in area of web design. These duties are similar to those of an IS professional II, web designer. 25 Serve as project manager/editor for highly visible university publications such as UA in Review, UA Key Performance Indicators, Board of Regents materials, etc. Request, collect, organize, compile and edit materials; design and format publications for a wide audience distribution; proofread typed materials for content, grammar and typographical errors; use desktop publishing software; work closely with analysts, graphic artists, print shops, and others to complete publications by established deadlines. Control work flow and timing to ensure timely publications; provide professional publication consultation. Monitor publications, budget and project progress, establishing method to do so, recommend project revision as needed. These duties are in alignment with those of an information officer or an editorial specialist. Knowledge of techniques and industry standards for publications, writing, editing, formatting, composing, and producing written, web, and digital materials for news, public information, and educational outreach. Executive level support for the Associate Vice President: meeting and event scheduling, agendas, and meeting minutes; correspondence; answer routine inquiries; mail; filing; equipment inventory; coordinate office equipment repair; procurement, travel coordination functions; project, manage and monitor unit budget. Responsible for authorizing expenditures, monitors fiscal activity, maintains budget and fiscal records, develops budget, manages overall budget and forecasts expenditures. Excellent leadership and diplomacy, judgment, problem-solving and decision-making, conflict resolution, analytical, critical thinking, and time management. Troubleshoot and resolve problems that may arise during day-to-day office operations. Ability to express ideas clearly and effectively orally and in writing. Knowledge of higher education organizational structure, processes, and laws and regulations applicable to higher education. Good understanding of data services, institutional research and analytical work. Knowledge of various computer programs (ex: Banner and other University of Alaska enterprise systems, InDesign, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Adobe Acrobat, email, internet) and ability to troubleshoot technological problems.
Ability to hire, train, supervise, evaluate, motivate, advise, and manage performance of student workers; delegates tasks and projects. Proficient in a web content management application such as Roxen or OU Campus; a professional publication management application such as InDesign; and office software applications, i.e. Microsoft Office Suite, email, internet, and scheduling. Knowledge of relational databases, such as the Banner system. Knowledge of computer programs of intermediate difficulty. Basic fiscal skills. Ability to multi-task and prioritize projects. Ability to communicate effectively. Leadership, problem-solving, organization, attention to details, multi-tasking and decisiveness are all required abilities. Knowledge of University of Alaska Travel Regulations & Policies and University Purchasing Regulations & Policies.
Demonstrated experience in
web design, editing or publications management. Progressively responsible experience in office management in an administrative setting. Experience in executive and confidential correspondence, proficient with Microsoft Office Suite Software.
TYPICAL EDUCATION OR TRAINING:
Associate's degree or equivalent combination of training and experience. Bachelor degree preferred. Preferred knowledge of OU Campus, Roxen, InDesign and PowerPoint. Supervisory and higher education administration experience preferred.
This is a full-time,
