Position Summary:

The Matanuska-Susitna College is hiring an Assistant Professor of General Business - Term. This is a bipartite (no research requirement) position. Candidates will need to be capable of teaching courses in business, economics and/or finance. The successful candidate must be available to start August 2020 and be able to teach the courses face-to-face on the Mat-Su College campus. Join us and help turn student aspirations into reality!


100Teach 100 and 200 level general business courses to undergraduate college students following the approved UAA course content guide. Prepare syllabus consistent with approved UAA course content guide. Prepare instruction appropriate to student learning outcomes and class delivery mode, e.g. face-to-face, blended, on-line. Evaluate student learning. Provide timely feedback to students on their learning. Respond to student questions about the class in a timely manner. Submit final grades on-time. Hold regular office hours appropriate for the courses being taught. Engage in University, professional and/or community service. Workload will normally consist of: 80% teaching (12 credits per semester) and 20% service to the university, community and discipline.Essential

The campus has an annual operating budget of nearly $11,000,000 and employs nearly one hundred full-time faculty and staff and more than one hundred adjunct instructors to serve approximately 2,000 students each semester.

Ability to incorporate technology in a classroom setting to support student learning.

Ability to provide a safe learning environment in the classroom.

Ability to construct effective learning activities for students.

Candidates will be evaluated on suitability of their graduate-level academic coursework and preparation to teach economics, business statistics, and finance, past teaching experiences, expertise and experience relevant to the effective teaching of their specific field, and potential for providing high-quality instruction to undergraduate students in assigned courses at Mat-Su College.

Required Experience: 

Evidence of successful business teaching and/or professional business experience.

Typical Education and Training

Successful candidates will have a Master’s degree or higher in business or a closely related field.  PhD or equivalent in business related field is preferred and professional experience may substitute for graduate-level coursework.

Probationary Period:

Pursuant to University Regulation 04.07.020, new employees of the University are employed in an at-will probationary status for the first six months of employment.
