The University of Alaska Fairbanks Facilities Services seeks applicants for the position of Shop Service Manager for building and equipment maintenance.
Typical work schedule will be M-F 8:00am – 5:00pm. In emergency situation additional hours could be required. Successful applicants will demonstrate at least five years’ experience in building/supervisory maintenance management, supervisory experience, and contract management. Must be a high school graduate or equivalent and be computer literate.
15 Customer Service (communication and review of work):
*Develop and implement plans to ensure maximum customer satisfaction levels.
*Build trust and partnerships.
* Coordinate schedules with various departments on campus requesting work. Make immediate, concise decisions and commitments.
*Collaborates closely with campus departments and meets regularly to establish maintenance goals and priorities to guide the efforts of the maintenance team.
*provides regular updates on maintenance team operations and budget.
* Provides customer service, including anticipating customer needs, suggesting alternatives and problem solving, and is able to satisfy those needs.
*Responds to customer complaints, considering nature and complexity of complaints, requirements, and actions of subordinates to ensure settlements are made correctly.

40 Work Management (assign, planning, and review of work):
*Manage the effective scheduling and assigning of work to a mobile workforce.
*Expertise and continuous management of the Computer Maintenance Management System.
*Prioritize and assign work to assure all commitments are met.
*Ensure Work Order system is maintained and up to date.
*Review completed work to ensure projects completed to satisfaction of requestor.
* Coordinate work of units supervised with supporting or related work functions controlled by other supervisors.
* Develop short and long range maintenance plans that incorporate the goals and priorities of the campus and its various constituents.
* Coordinate work effort on renovation projects as well as daily maintenance projects, as assigned by the Superintendent.
*Oversee ordering and utilization of materials and equipment on various projects.
* Determine the appropriate installation and repair procedures, methods, and trade practices to be used to complete assigned projects/work orders.
*Ensure completeness of projects or work orders involving projects assigned for the upkeep, operation, or maintenance of buildings, fixtures, and related equipment and systems.
*Ensure PMI repairs are scheduled to maintain continuity with existing systems and procedures.
* Establish deadlines, priorities, and work sequences; and plan work assignments based on general work schedules, methods, and policies set by higher level supervisors.

The University of Alaska Fairbanks Facilities Services seeks applicants for the position of HVAC Shop Service Manager. Service Managers supervise the performance of various tasks relating to scheduled and non-scheduled maintenance on both new and old construction.
Service managers typically manage 10-20 personnel in various trades, determine scope of work on projects, assign tasks to appropriate trades, and work as conduit between trades and other shops. Perform quality control for work completed; approve daily time sheets and payroll submissions. Assist Upper level management in maintaining and acquiring needed workforce. Ensure workers have received mandatory and suggested training as applicable to their individual trades, conduct evaluations on worker performance, and provide assistance to Customers as needed.
Successful applicants will have five or more year’s management/supervisory experience in building and or equipment maintenance.
This position requires the ability to work independently with little to no direct supervision. Must have good oral and written communication skills and be computer literate. Must have a valid Alaska Driver's License or ability to get one in six months. Typical working hours are Monday - Friday 8am – 5pm.

Extensive knowledge of facilities maintenance, including architectural, structural, mechanical, plumbing or electrical systems.
Experience with supervisory principles and techniques, problem solving and organizational skills. Knowledge of OSHA regulation.
TYPICAL EDUCATION OR TRAINING:
High School diploma or equivalent required. Bachelors Degree or equivalent combination of training and experience.
Combined ten years progressively responsible work and supervisory experience in relevant field. Driver's license.
