Position Summary:

The Residence Life Central Office Assistant position is a student member of the Department of Residence Life. We are looking for a student employee who is eager to learn and displays a positive attitude as they work with residents, employees, and guests who visit and live on campus. Must be able to work in a busy open office environment with many interruptions and skilled in multitasking.


100The Department of Residence Life works to enhance student growth by providing educational experiences outside the classroom that increase leadership abilities, social skills and personal development. We employ a large student staff who perform a variety of job duties.The qualified candidate who fills this position will gain a variety of experiences and serve as the front line staff to our Central Office of Residence Life. Examples of the work this position performs are: general office duties including filing, supply organization, data entry/collection, generate reports, phone coordination, paperwork processing, customer service, and other duties as assigned.Essential


Basic computer skills required. May require mechanical or technical ability/knowledge. Must have ability to demonstrate reliability with attendance and punctuality, ability to work independently, ability to communicate effectively with University Community; in English (both verbally and written) with all types of people, ability to provide positive customer service and assistance, ability to exercise sound judgement, ability to perform duties consistent with office environment and to handle confidential information appropriately.


Demonstrated education and experience sufficient to perform the responsibilities of the position and to have acquired the necessary skills and abilities. 6 months to 3 years office/clerical experience is preferred.


No licenses required. Undergraduate students must have a minimum 2.0 GPA at the time of application and for the duration of employment. Graduate students must have and maintain a minimum of a 3.0 GPA at the time of application and for the duration of employment.

This position is a Student Assistant B; starting rate of pay is $11.00 hourly
Increases based on performance and longevity
To apply for this position, the applicant may not be on academic probation nor any form of University or residential disciplinary probation. Applicant must be a UAF student.
UA Board of Regents’ Policy P09.05.020 states that in order to be eligible for student employment, graduate and undergraduate students must be enrolled in a minimum of six credit hours in the current semester of employment or have been enrolled in the preceding semester for six or more credit hours, and demonstrate plans to enroll for six or more credit hours in the next semester for employment between semesters.
Foreign nationals in a student position must be enrolled full time unless they have permission from the Designated School Official or Responsible Officer for that campus.
