KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES:
Requires intermediate knowledge of HR (payroll, personnel, benefits, recruitment, budget), including HR processes, HR theory, and HR compliance
Must have a basic understanding of the University of Alaska system and how information flows between and impacts different functional areas
Requires intermediate level knowledge of MS Access or other database reporting tools
Requires knowledge of bank transaction and cash control methods
Requires advanced knowledge of automated accounting systems
Requires knowledge of spreadsheet/database development and query development specific to financial or budget analysis
Requires knowledge of accounting theory and generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP)
Requires an intermediate knowledge level of MS Word and Excel
Requires intermediate knowledge of Banner HR, Banner Finance
Requires basic understanding of Lean Six Sigma or other process improvement methodology
Requires analytical and problem-solving skills; innovative thinking
Requires excellent written and oral communication skills and customer service skills
Must be able to communicate technical ideas to internal and external customers in a way that can be easily understood
Must be skilled at identifying and proactively addressing problems or potential risks
Must have organizational and follow-up skills
Must have verification, monitoring, and reconciling skills
Must have intermediate fiscal skills
Must be able to adapt to new system interfaces with ease
Ability to gather and analyze data
Must be able to interpret regulations, fiscal and purchasing policies, and contracts independently
Must be able to understand fiscal and purchasing policies, rules, and regulations
Must be able to prioritize workload independently and meet deadlines under stressful situations

REQUIRED EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Statistics, or related field, or an equivalent combination of training and experience. Minimum 3 years progressively responsible professional or management fiscal experience.
This is a full-time, Grade 79, minimum $25.82/hr, DOE, 12-month position complete with a competitive salary and UA employee benefits package. Probationary Period:
Pursuant to University Regulation 04.07.020, new employees of the University are employed in an at-will probationary status for the first six months of employment. During the probationary period, employment may be terminated for no reason or any reason. Promoted employees also serve a probationary period with limited rights of retreat.
