To be considered for a CT2 position, applicants must have journeyman level skills in refrigeration systems troubleshooting and repair, plus a minimum of ten years related experience, or equivalent combination of experience and technical education.
To be considered for a CT3 position, applicants must have journeyman level skills in refrigeration systems troubleshooting and repair, an Associate’s degree in HVAC/Refrigeration, documented experience with cascade refrigeration systems, documented experience with installing and troubleshooting direct digital control systems, plus a minimum of ten years related experience, or an equivalent combination of experience and advanced technical education.
Willing to obtain Operation and Maintenance asbestos training and participate in a respirator program. Maintaining the State of Alaska Certificate of Fitness is a condition of employment, maintenance of such license is at the employer’s expense. Willing to remove asbestos under Operations and Maintenance protocol.
- Will communicate effectively with campus customers including food service contractor and research departments.
- Maintain appropriate work records.
- Must have and always maintain an EPA Section 608 Universal Refrigerant Handling certification.
- Journeyman level skills in refrigeration and HVAC system repair.
- Ten years relevant experience
- Ability to work with minimal direct supervision, and with diverse populations
- Ability to read and understand building mechanical and electrical plans
- Basic computer skills in operations and programming related to HVAC/R systems
- Working knowledge of preventative maintenance on HVAC/R systems
- Experience with Direct Digital Controls
- Valid Driver’s license required.
- Associates Degree in Refrigeration
- Experience with Siemens building automation systems
- Experience with ultra-low (-80°) freezers
- Experience in troubleshooting and repairs on ultra-low temperature research chambers (cascade systems)
- Experience with pneumatic and DDC controls
- Experience in maintaining ice rink chillers and compressors, and all related equipment (R-22 system)

Salary Information: CT2/Step 7 $25.13/hr.-$31.08/hr. DOE; CT3/Step 7 $28.30/hr. - $34.97/hr. DOE. (See Article 9.2 in the L6070 Collective Bargaining Agreement, Wage Grade Schedule - http://www.alaska.edu/labor/local-6070/ . This is a full-time, benefited position.
