Position Summary:

This position is a Student Assistant C position at the University of Alaska Anchorage's Multi-Cultural Center/AHAINA department. You must be eligible for Federal Work Study to be considered.

Duties:

The Multi-Cultural Center/AHAINA is a fast-paced office with the opportunity to work with diverse groups of students, faculty, and staff. You must be eligible for Federal Work Study to be considered. Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

Complete routine tasks with minimal supervision, and work independently. Duties require independent judgment and decision-making under supervision. Interact appropriately with a diverse population/culture while maintaining appropriate boundaries in a positive manner. . General office skills, answering telephone, Microsoft Outlook, scheduling appointments, and basic computer skills are preferred.

Required Experience: 

General office skills.

Typical Education or Training:

High School Diploma or equivalent.  Also, must be currently enrolled in at least 6 credits at the University of Alaska Anchorage.

Duties:

5%   Assist with Voter Registration on campus/in Rasmusson Hall.

95% Job duties will vary according to the needs of the supervisor. Sample duties include: courier duties, answering phones, filing, making copies assisting with web page design, email and listserv management, data entry, special projects as needed, assist with voter registration on campus/in Rasmuson Hall, reception/front office coverage.

Students interested int his position will need to attend an informational meeting to become familiar with the various duties and responsibilities in the Multi-Cultural Center. Applicants must create a 10-15 minute presentation on the skills and abilities they have and how they will be used to advance one or more of the following three areas:

1) Student and Community Outreach

2) Peer Mentoring

3) Programs that enhance student distinction (participation in graduate/professional school preparation, undergraduate research, honors college or study abroad programs)

 

$10.50 Hourly
