Nanook Recreation and the Student Recreation Center is looking for dependable student employees to join our staff. Knowledge of UAF, Nanook Recreation and the SRC is helpful, but not necessary.
Nanook Recreation (previously the Department of Recreation, Adventure and Wellness) is looking for students to join our team! This position is conveniently located in the Student Recreation Center, a fun place and a fun team. You will be the first point of contact for all things recreation as well as vital in maintaining a welcoming and clean environment for members, see description of the main position focuses below. Professionalism, excellent customer service skills and teamwork skills are a must. The SRC is open Mon-Fri 5:30 am – 10 pm; Sat 9 am – 10 pm; and Sun noon to 7 pm. Front Desk Operations: Perform customer service duties and answer inquiries via phone, in person and email. Operate office equipment including multi-line phones, copiers, fax, cash register and credit card machine. Assist UAF students, staff and visitors with their recreation needs. Sell memberships, take payments, balance shift sales, record, scan, file, clean the front area of the SRC, enforce facility policies, other duties as assigned and more.
SRC Operations: Help members obtain and use recreational equipment, maintain member cleaning stations, put away rogue equipment, disinfect equipment, backup the front desk as needed, other duties as assigned and more.
Options: There is the potential for extra flexibility if you are a high achiever, we can provide training and additional earning opportunities in areas of interest such as in the climbing wall, group fitness instruction, intramural refereeing, personal training, administrative operations, etc.
All work is done under the supervision and with the support of the office staff.
