ISER Graduate Research Assistant - Master of Public Policy Program FY23 Anchorage
The Institute of Social and Economic Research (ISER) at the University of Alaska Anchorage (UAA) is hiring a Master of Public Policy student to research community impacts of river erosion and policy solutions in Alaska’s Yukon River Watershed. This position will be part of a larger research project funded by the National Science Foundation on planning for and adapting to riverbank erosion. The position will be located in Anchorage, Alaska, with travel to the Yukon River Watershed region. It includes a two-year fellowship in UAA’s new Master of Public Policy program, designed for training Alaska’s future public policymakers, analysts, and administrators.

FY22 - ISER Graduate Research Assistant (Socio-Ecological) Anchorage
Graduate students will work with researchers at the Institute for Social and Economic Research (ISER) on a variety of projects related to arctic urban and rural social-ecological systems. Student researchers may be involved in collecting, entering, and analyzing data, writing reports and contributing to project management under the direction of the Pl The positions open are based on funded research projects (see duties) and we are recruiting multiple students to work on projects. The topics of the projects vary, and applicants can indicate which research topic they are interested in when applying. The Alaska based topics include: • retaining STEM teachers • modeling social-ecological connections • assessing climate-related environmental hazards • designing fuel treatments to reduce wildfire risk • building community resilience to wildfire • measuring sustainability for arctic cities The methods used for these projects differ, but will include qualitative (i.e. interview, surveys, etc.) and quantitative data (i.e. GIS, modeling, basic statistics ,etc.) methods. Student Union Graduate Assistant Anchorage
The University of Alaska Anchorage (UAA) department of Student Life and Leadership (SLL) seeks a motivated and dynamic individual to serve as its Student Union Graduate Assistant (GA) for Fall 2021. This GA position provides critical support to the day-to-day operations and event management of the Student Union. The Student Union GA is primarily responsible for assisting with: 1)overseeing retail sales at the Information Desk and the Union Station coffee shop ; 2) student staff recruitment/hiring/training, and 3) marketing for building programs/services. This GA position reports to the Assistant Director for Student Union and co-supervises a team of 20+ Student Building Managers, Resource Assistants, and Baristas, as well as a Coffee Shop Manager and a Fiscal Manager. Overall, the Student Union GA serves as an integral member of a student-centered team, whose mission is to cultivate an engaged campus community at UAA. This position is 20 hours/week and starts at $17.54/hour; in addition to hourly wages, the Student Union GA receives health insurance and tuition remission by the University.
CBHRS/ISER Graduate Research/Graduate Service Assistant - FY22 Anchorage
Incumbents will join faculty and researchers who are active in conducting research in various disciplines. CBHRS projects are typically focused on behavioral/health outcomes approached from multiple disciplinary perspectives including psychology, sociology, anthropology, and public health.
