The Process Technology Intern aids Facilities Services - Division of Utilities Maintenance, Operations, Instrumentation and/or Water Plant sections within the UAF Power Plant with various duties as assigned, while gaining hands-on experience. The College of Business and Public Policy Communication Specialist provides high-level communications and administrative support to the Dean, faculty and staff, drafting and reviewing documents, and working with various constituents on campus and in the community.
The Communication Specialist will actively contribute to the development and implementation of comprehensive, strategic marketing and communication plans designed to effectively publicize programs, faculty (teach, research and service), staff, and student success, using a variety of communication mediums. This position is primarily responsible for copywriting, executing, and measuring the effectiveness of marketing communications that present information to internal and external audiences, supporting the Dean’s advancement responsibilities, and coordinating College’s events and programs.
Associate Director of CES
The School of Natural Resources and Extension (SNRE) is soliciting internal applications from qualified UAF employees for an associate director for Cooperative Extension Service (CES) & the Agricultural and Forestry Experiment Station (AFES). The CES/AFES associate director will report to the acting SNRE director who reports to the UAF provost & executive vice chancellor.
The associate director will work closely with the acting SNRE director to provide strong and effective leadership for CES/AFES faculty and staff, foster integrated approaches to problem solving, facilitate the growth of innovative Extension outreach programs offered by CES, promote basic and applied research activity at AFES, and oversee the execution of planned activities and programs. The associate director will also collaborate with the SNRE director to advocate for the program (at the national level, with state leaders, and with other land-grant university leaders), actively acquire funding and other resources, and leading the unit to stable and improved funding and a continued commitment to excellence in extension and research.
This position is open for application by all qualified UAF employees. The position will constitute a 12 month commitment of 51% FTE with the incumbent continuing to perform 49% FTE of their current faculty duties and responsibilities. If a faculty member is the successful candidate, they will become a non-represented faculty in this position. If a staff member is the successful candidate, due to UA HR policy, this is the only position they can hold and will be a part time position only (51% FTE).

This position supervises the provision of health care and maintenance for a variety of laboratory vertebrate animals, UAA's vivarium in accordance with the Animal Welfare Act, Public Health Service Policy, National Institutes of Health (NIH) Guidelines for the Care and Use of Laboratory Animals, UAA Institutional Animal Care & Use Committee (IACUC) policies, and Alaska Department of Fish and Game policies. The facility is required to pass annual inspections by the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) and biannual inspections by UAA IACUC. In addition, this position provides assistance to the Vivarium Veterinarian. The incumbent also supervises the construction and fabrication of cages and other animal related structures and the repair and maintenance of equipment used in support of research activities.
