Academic Coach/Science Tutor
Primary responsibilities include serving as an academic coach for Science. This professional will work both with college-enrolled students and with adult learners pursuing basic education and/or vocational goals in the Science field areas of Biology, Micro Biology, Chemistry, Physiology, Anatomy & Physiology, and general Science Additional duties include assisting in test proctoring and supervision for academic and workforce assessments offered to the community of Sitka. An academic coach may provide tutoring in any subject areas for which (s)he is qualified.
This is a temporary position working 5 hours per week or more as needed.
Personal Education Planner: Behavioral Health Specialist
The Personal Education Planner (PEP) - Behavioral Health Specialist primarily provides individualized advisement and support to UAS Sitka students of career-ready endorsements, certificates, and associate degrees throughout the course of their studies at UAS Sitka as part of the Compete to Complete Title III grant activities. Direct guidance will be delivered through face-to-face and a variety of distance methods utilized by the PEP in association with other members of the Title III team working on the "Complete to Compete: Approach to Student Success for Alaska Native and High-Need Students" University of Alaska Southeast Sitka Campus, Title III grant.
Using excellent listening, coaching, problem-solving, and referral skills, the PEP will establish meaningful advisory relationships with students. Primary duties include supporting new students and connecting existing students to academic and other resources. Each PEP will manage at least one online or hybridized co-curricular learning community to engage both local and online learners, fostering interactions with peers, staff, and faculty beyond the classroom.
In this position you will also provide support for students with educational barriers and risk factors related to behavioral health and wellness. This will be accomplished through non-clinical preventative education and early intervention approaches, including referrals to internal and external support resources and clinicians when appropriate. You will provide consultation, support, and behavioral health tools and resources to the campus community and contribute to preventive knowledge programming and outreach activities.
This is a 12-month, full-time position funded by a five-year federal Title III grant awarded to Alaska Native-serving institutions of higher education; grant term ends 9/30/2020.
Successful applicant must relocate/reside in Sitka. Some outreach travel and work on nights/weekends will be required.

Testing and Student Services Specialist
Primary proctor for local Sitka students and testing candidates. Follow departmental protocol for administering and monitoring placement tests, course exams, professional and standardized tests, and workforce testing for Sitka testing candidates. Provide general reception for Student Success Center (SSC) and its primary shared telephone line. Serve as primary administrator of the relevant SSC and testing email accounts and corresponding calendars. Facilitate department procurement and assist staff with purchasing paperwork and procedures. Assist with the general administrative support needs of the SSC staff, Adult Basic Education, and SSC Coordinator.

Associate's degree in relevant field or the equivalent; bachelor's degree preferred. Two years work experience as a proctor where the primary duties included proctoring computer based exams. Candidate must possess advanced computer skills to include software installation and upgrades. Must be familiar with how to utilize a web camera and other biometric equipment. The Testing Assistant works under the supervision of the Testing Manager of the UAA Testing Center, and the supervision of the Associate Dean of University Studies. The incumbent is responsible for the administration of, and the supervision and monitoring candidates for computer and paper based exams inside the Testing Center and at external locations. Candidates are monitored using video, audio and computer monitoring software. The Testing Assistant also supports programs for which the Testing Manager is responsible.
