Assistant Professor of Welding and Nondestructive Testing Anchorage
The University of Alaska Anchorage's Division of Transportation & Power is recruiting qualified applicants for Instructor/Assistant Professor in the Welding and Nondestructive Testing program. The person hired for this position will be responsible for coordination and delivery of coursework and scheduling in support of industry partners. This position is responsible for teaching courses in the Welding and Nondestructive Testing Technology program. The Instructor/Assistant Professor is responsible for identifying and meeting the needs of the students, contributing to curriculum development, and maintaining up-to- date knowledge of subject areas. The ability to work effectively with colleagues and students of various cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds is a must. Excellent written communication skills and basic computer literacy is required. An Associate of Applied Science degree in a field related to Welding & Nondestructive Testing Technology is strongly preferred. A combination of academic and recent work experience including relevant industry certifications indicative of the ability to be successful in a faculty role will be necessary. This position requires knowledge and application of industry-accepted safety standards. The ability to effectively demonstrate and instruct students in applicable theory and application of Welding/NDT outcomes is required. AWS Certified Welding instructor certification is preferred. Appropriate AWS and ASNT certifications are required. (ASNT level II required, level III preferred for radiography, ultrasonic, magnetic particle, liquid dye penetrant) Previous experience teaching at the post-secondary level or for business and industry in Welding and NDT is preferred.
