INE General Research
The Institute of Northern Engineering (INE) seeks research faculty in growth areas. Appointments will generally be made at the assistant research professor level, though higher ranks will be considered. We are particularly interested in faculty that match well with our growth areas, transportation and infrastructure, energy and natural resources, and climate and the environment. Research faculty positions in INE are grant funded, though the institute will provide 3 months of salary support when warranted. Although an earned doctorate is not mandatory, it is highly recommended. Successful applicants will have a demonstrated success record in research, including publications and outreach. A review of candidates will occur every three months. All applicants not hired in FY17 or by June 30, 2017 will be eliminated and need to re-apply if a new position is posted for FY18 (July 1, 2017).

Adjunct Instructor - College of Natural Science & Mathematics

The UAF Forest Soils Laboratory (FSL) requires a Laboratory/Field technician to conduct field collection and laboratory analyses of plant, soil, water, and gas samples. The position also entails methods development in support of experimental work undertaken and supervised by FSL faculty. The majority of FSL research is centered on boreal forest ecology, forest soils, and silvicultural projects in interior Alaska, mostly in the Bonanza Creek Experimental Forest, the Caribou-Poker Creeks Research Watershed, and other remote, road and river accessible research sites tied to the current Long-term Ecological Research Program (LTER).

UAF Disability Services Student Assistant B
Disability Services provides classroom accommodations to students with disabilities. These accommodations range from providing qualified students with ASL interpreting services to reading tests out loud. Student assistants are an integral part of the Disability Services (DS) team. Student Assistants gain invaluable experience through their work with students with disabilities. Working with such a diverse group of the student body teaches student assistants how to look at a situation from a new perspective. Tasks required of Student Assistants in the Disability Services Department include scanning text books, converting textbooks into audio books, proctoring exams, note taking, teaching students how to use assistive technologies, and basic office tasks as needed.

Assistant Professor of Social Work
The School of Social Work seeks a versatile, independent colleague who can teach an array of courses in both Social Work programs; we are especially interested in someone who can teach generalist practice classes at the foundation and/or advanced levels. We seek someone who can conduct and disseminate research that benefits Alaskans and the circumpolar north; we are especially interested in someone who can meld an emerging research program of her/his own with responsiveness to community requests for research assistance. For this tri-partite position, enthusiasm for service to the university and the community is also necessary – and rewarded in our promotion and tenure system. An MSW from an accredited program, at least two years’ post-MSW practice experience, and a doctorate in Social Work or a related field are required (ABD acceptable at application).
We currently have nine full-time faculty positions. Council on Social Work Education (CSWE) accreditation has been re-affirmed through 2018.
