UAS Information Technology Services is a fast-paced and fun team that serves the needs of a dynamic and growing university campus. Assist with designing and configuring large, complex, multiple WAN/LAN network systems for public and internal access, and with administering those systems at the system and user group levels. Provide full support of microcomputers, and assist with development of standards for hardware, software and associated training. This is a full-time, 12-month, permanent position. All applicants should have both an Associate’s degree and four years of professional experience maintaining a large network for an organization. 90 Install and maintain the campus network backbone. Oversee the installation and operation of network switches, routers, firewalls, and wireless equipment. Manufacture network cables and patch cords. Plan new installations and troubleshoot network failures. Recommend upgrades and enhancements to existing infrastructure. Essential
Required Education & Experience
Associate’s degree in a relevant field (i.e. Information Technology or another related field) and four years of professional experience; Or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
Preferred Education & Experience
Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (i.e. Information Technology or another related field).
Cisco CCNP certification.
Three years of professional experience supporting data networks and managing Cisco, Palo Alto, and SolarWinds products.
Previous experience working successfully with people of diverse cultural and ethnic backgrounds.
Demonstrated general working knowledge of automated information, communication and networking systems principles and techniques.
Demonstrated advanced knowledge of computer networking technologies and methodologies.
Ability to implement computer networking technologies and methodologies and operate a variety of personal computers and related equipment.
Ability to identify, diagnose, and resolve complex network problems.
Ability to perform preventative maintenance, and attach workstations to networks, Intranet, and LAN servers.
Ability to perform preventive maintenance, and attach workstations to networks, Internet, and departmental and campus LAN servers.
Ability to install network cable and configure voice, data, and video network components in accordance with IS engineering specifications, and with codes, regulations, standards and policies.
Ability to install, maintain, update, and repair network equipment and desktop computing hardware and software.
Effective customer service and interpersonal skills.
Strong critical thinking skills.
This is a full-time,12-month, non-exempt staff position complete with a competitive salary and
full employee benefits package. New hires typically are placed somewhere between steps one through ten on the staff salary schedule, Grade 79, (based on education and experience). This recruitment is open until filled with the initial application review taking place on June 3rd, 2019.
