The University of Alaska Fairbanks (UAF) seeks a term Assistant Professor of Applied Linguistics. UAF’s Linguistics Program offers both a BA in Linguistics and an MA in Applied Linguistics with a focus on Second Language Acquisition and Teacher Education (SLATE). The SLATE program attracts language teachers from throughout Alaska, home to 20 Indigenous languages.
Responsibilities include teaching courses in second language acquisition, teaching methods, assessment and general linguistics. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to develop a targeted undergraduate course in their specific area of expertise.
Salary commensurate with experience.
Candidates must hold a Ph.D. in Linguistics or related field, have expertise in 2nd language acquisition and teaching and assessment, and have a general background in Linguistics. Experience in 2nd language teaching and teacher training is required.
