Position Summary:

The UAA Office of Admissions is seeking an Adult Learner Recruitment and Outreach Coordinator.

Duties:

25Training Implementation: Participate in UAA campus recruitment group and establish and maintains a network of internal and external stakeholders. Partners with alumni office to identify UAA alumni in key market areas in order to recruit and grow the recruitment volunteer network. Plans, develops, conducts and evaluates recruitment volunteer training for staffing community events where UAA recruitment staff cannot be present or require additional staffing. Ensures a reliable and predictable logistical foundation as needed for scheduled training materials, and printing requests for recruitment volunteers.Coordinates the logistics for delivery of materials to all volunteers and other parties involved in outreach events.Essential
35Event Planning & Community Relations: Oversees and implements public events, meetings, open house information sessions, etc. to build overall brand affinity with various markets, including adult learners and working degree-seekers. Identifies outreach events and determines staffing and resources as well as a point of contact. Directs and coordinates all program activities on a daily basis to deliver information about UAA to Anchorage and the surrounding communities. Serves as a key communications resource in representing UAA to the Anchorage community. Serves as a liaison in concert with the Assistant Director of Student Recruitment and Executive Director of Admissions and networks with business, government, nonprofit agencies, UA departments and other organizations to maintain awareness of the UAA. Makes promotional contacts with civic organizations; represents the program at meetings, workshops, events and conferences.Essential
35Outreach to and Recruitment of Adult Learners and working degree-seekers: Creates and implements a community and business outreach plan with a focus on recruitment of adult learners and working degree-seekers, with a goal of increasing enrollment for this population. Organizes and participates at community outreach activities to educate the broader community about UAA. Assists in developing strategic plans for community, business and industry outreach with a focus on adult learners. Speaks before interested agencies and groups to disseminate information about UAA.Essential
5Policy & Procedure Resource: Ensures compliance with applicable rules, regulations, processes, policies, and procedures. Job Summary:

UAA Office of Admissions is seeking an Adult Learner Recruitment and Outreach Coordinator. This position will provide strategic leadership and tactical implementation of a new initiative that will focus on creating strong community and business ties to ensure an enhanced presence for UAA within Anchorage and the surrounding communities with a focus on recruiting and meeting the needs of adult learners and working degree-seekers. A key aspect to the success of this position will be to develop a network of partnerships including (but not limited to) current UAA students, faculty and staff and alumni to help recruit on behalf of UAA at a wide range of events.

The successful candidate will develop a comprehensive program that includes a training program for volunteers and will coordinate the delivery of recruitment materials to these volunteers. They will also manage the broad recruitment territory encompassing adult learners and will work with the Executive Director and the Assistant Director of Student Recruitment to identify avenues to grow enrollment in their territory. This position will support their supervisor in creating and maintaining a detailed calendar of events as well as coordinate volunteers to staff a wide variety of events. The individual in this position will speak before interested agencies and groups to disseminate information about UAA. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are essential to build and maintain good relationships with stakeholders, community organizations, business and volunteers.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

Knowledge and experience in working with diverse communities of Alaska, particularly focused on Anchorage. Experience in facilitating public meetings and other public forums. Exceptional organizational and planning skills. Available to attend evening and weekend community events and meetings.

Knowledge of marketing/advertising and recruitment principles. Ability to troubleshoot situations to determine the best course of action. Ability to work as an influential part of a team. Ability to apply theories gained through experience and education. Ability to assist in the coordination of a large team of volunteer alumni, faculty, staff and students effectively.

Strong interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills are required. Demonstrated ability to speak in public (advanced public speaking skills). Must have the ability to effectively prepare and present information to various groups. The ability to work independently or with others to manage multiple tasks with minimal supervision is essential.

Proficiency in MS Office Applications, desktop publishing, database and spreadsheet software.

Preferable KSA's include: Intimate knowledge of UAA, its extended campuses and sites, and its policies degree programs and policies. Ability to interpret, explain, and/or enforce policy and procedure under a variety of circumstances. Knowledge of and ability to comprehensively advise students about degree programs offered and admissions requirements.

Required Experience:

Experience in public or community relations as well as communications, with a background serving traditional and non-traditional students in an academic environment. Experience planning, designing and presenting workshops and/or training sessions.

Experience in all areas of Student Services (i.e. admissions, evaluations, degree certification, records, registration, and/or information services) is preferred. Experience working with adult learners and the recruitment of adult learners is preferred.

Typical Education or Training:

Bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited college or university.

Applicant must possess an unrestricted Alaska driver's license or be able to obtain an unrestricted Alaska driver's license within 60 days of accepting the job.

Position Information:

Regular, Nonexempt, Grade 78, Full-Time, 12 months per year.
