The selected candidate will have an appointment within the Geophysical Institute, and will have the opportunity to be involved with research projects related to Alaska and
surrounding Arctic climate research.
The Alaska Climate Research Center (ACRC) is looking for a Post Doctoral Fellow to carry out research in atmospheric sciences with a specific goal of systematic acquisition and dissemination of climate-related information. The ACRC Post Doctoral Fellow will assist and provide support to data users. The goal of the position is to support development of modern ACRC products, services, and capabilities that enhance the delivery of climate information. The position will be aligned with the ACRC/ASCC mission and existing and future ACRC research projects. The candidate is expected to enthusiastically 'live' Alaska's weather and climate, analyze atmospheric data with state
of the art statistical methods, and report weather and climate phenomena to a wide community.
A strong background in Atmospheric Sciences or related disciplines in Natural Sciences is required. Experience in system administration, database management, and programming are advantageous. Good interpersonal and communication (oral and written) skills are highly desired.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- General knowledge of atmospheric science is required.
- Specific knowledge on the collection, analysis, and dissemination of climate-related data.
- Sufficient relevant experience to contribute significantly to a specific project.
- Experience in the use of computers and other appropriate equipment to conduct the research proposed.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
Required Education and Experience:
Ph.D. degree (already received, or having completed all requirements and awaiting graduation) with emphasis on relevant science field.
