Position Summary:

2019 Spring Semester Desk Attendant for the Department of Residence Life Salary: $9.89 per hour DOE

Duties:

100Works under direct supervision. Duties generally are routine in nature and decision-making is limited (e.g., may make routine decisions about assigned work in absence of immediate supervision.) Examples of typical work include: general office work (e.g., reception, record maintenance, word processing, computer data entry). A Desk Attendant, DA, is a front line security position with the Department of Residence Life and a CSA which requires confidential information reporting. DA's work night and early morning hours monitoring the activity traveling in and out of housing. A qualified DA candidate should have the following abilities: Ability to work a minimum of 8 hours a week. Ability to communicate effectively with University community. Ability to work independently. Ability to exercise sound judgment. Ability to identify appropriate resources. Ability to diplomatically deal with people in a variety of situations. Ability to recognize people, names, and faces. Ability to work late night/early morning hours. Ability to communicate effectively in English (both verbally and written) with all types of people. Ability to provide positive customer service and assistance. Ability to demonstrate basic computer skills. This position supports the mission of the Department of Residence Life by creating a positive, safe environment for students by verifying identification of guests entering the residence hall facilities through the sign-in process.Essential

Salary: $9.89 per hour DOE

Students must maintain enrollment and regular attendance for a minimum of at least 6 undergraduate credit hours or 6 graduate credit hours to be exempt from FICA (Social Security and Medicare) tax. A credit hour load below the minimum required for full-time student status will require the withholding of FICA tax (non-resident aliens on an appropriate visa who meet student employment criteria will continue to be exempt from FICA regardless of credit hour load). While in a student position, a student cannot hold any other type of simultaneous employment with the university. Applicants must have a minimum 2.0 cumulative GPA as of Fall 2018 grade posting or be a newly enrolled student.
