Position Summary:

The temp Program Aide will assist the current Program Aide's with 4-H after school clubs and serve as a contact person for its participants. In this position you will guide and support 4-H members with club and project work Organize the 4-H after school clubs by coordinating leaders, members and their families to determine a plan of the club's activities and to determine resources needed to carry out the plan.

Duties:

20OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES Liaise sensitively with parents on matters concerning their children while maintaining confidentiality. Report on a regular basis to Program Director regarding issues of need and/or concern. Prepare correspondence and articles for the 4-H newsletter, online presence and local media. Recruit youth to become involved in 4-H programs. Use District website and internet media to increase 4-H program outreach. Use local mass media to publicize 4-H events and accomplishments. Serve as a positive role model for members and colleagues. Represent 4-H in the community. Work with volunteers during evening clubs, school breaks, some Saturdays, summer program and special interest projects. Attend and participate in training sessions/activities overnight and on weekends as directed by the Program Director. Participate in staff conferences for planning and evaluation of joint activities and share ideas among all co-workers, leaders, district staff and specialists. Maintains organization of resources available for program use, including request for purchases. Perform related work as required.Essential
80PROGRAM DELIVERY Under the direction of the Bethel 4-H Youth Center Director, provide leadership for planning, staging and reviewing outside of school time K-12 programming activities and events for school age participants, making 4-H programming attractive to divers local audiences. Plan, coordinate and manage an annual calendar of 4-H Youth Center activities focused on the essential elements of 4-H: Belonging, Independence, Generosity and Mastery. Plan, implement and review 4-H club programming, 4-H staff teamwork and development, personal needs for performing responsibilities. Be familiar with existing 4-H curriculum and curriculum needs. Supervise members attending the program and promote safety and respect amongst all participants. Ensure a friendly and supportive atmosphere is maintained by developing appropriate strategies to support members in managing their behavior. Respond to the individual needs of members and establish stable and consistent relationships with each member and their families/caregivers. Daily delivery of the meal program, counts and reporting. Collect and monitor member registration and fees as needed. Assist members individually or in small groups with homework help, listening to members reading, building math skills. Cleaning and tidying of the facility and ensuring the safe storage of equipment.Essential

Computer skills including online presence updates, web search, word documents, letter/reports writing, database management, calendars, email.
Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing with all levels of staff, the public and program participants while maintaining objectivity.
Complete 4-H leader training.
Some degree of physical activity is required to conduct programs (e.g. setting up and cleaning up from programs, handling animals, carrying materials and equipment).
Knowledge of basic phone skills and etiquette.
Skilled at providing excellent customer service.
Ability to operate and troubleshoot basic office equipment.
Ability to maintain confidentiality.
Ability to maintain composure when dealing with irate individuals.
Current First Aid and CPR Certifications.
Must be able to work evenings, weekends and flexible hours.

 

Required Experience:

Cross-cultural experience
CPR/First Aid certified
Experience working with children grades K-12
Ability to do a variety of activities like crafts, sewing, cooking, recreation, games, computer and art projects.

 

Typical Education or Training: 

High School Diploma/G.E.D.
Valid Driver’s License
Satisfactory criminal background check

Computer skills including online presence updates, web search, word documents, letter/reports writing, database management, calendars, email.
Enjoy working with people.
Ability to communicate with youth and adults.
Patience, busy as and the ability to cooperate and organize.
Complete 4-H leader training.
