The Student Activities Office at the University of Alaska Southeast will be hiring two students to serve as event technicians. If you like working behind the scenes, helping to make events like concerts, performances, dances, and film screenings a success, then this position may be for you. The successful applicants will set-up and tear-down Student Activities events including seating, tables, staging, and decor at a variety of campus venues. This position will assist the Student Activities Board Audio Visual Techincal Specialist in sound and lighting set-up for events when needed. Successful applicants may also occasionally lead student volunteers in assisting with set-up and tear-down of large events. Hours will be variable due to event schedules. This position is ideal for a student looking to work up to 5 hours per week with a flexible schedule.
Student Employment Requirements:
Must be a UAS student enrolled in a minimum of six credit hours, or the intent to enroll in six credit hours during the Fall 2019 semester.
Must have a 2.0 cumulative GPA, unless a first time freshmen.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Strong attention to detail.
Ability to work with intermittent or minimal supervision.
Ability to complete tasks thoroughly and responsibly.
Ability to work well in a team environment.
Ability to interact positively with co-workers, supervisor, students, and university personnel.
Specialized tasks with skills to be developed include set-up and tear-down of sound and lighting equipment. Applicants must have the ability to lift and move up to 50 lbs and use ladders safely (training will be provided).
This is a part-time Student Assistant B (9.89/Hourly DOE) position. Student maybe offered the opportunity to work full-time during the summer, depending on their performance.
