Student Assistant C position in programming with Dr. Shawn Butler on a Department of Defense contract.
100 Works under general direction. Exercises independent judgment and decision-making in developing new procedures or techniques. The Applied Environmental Research Center (AERC) is a center within the Business Enterprise Institute (BEI). The BEI provides a platform for high-level consultancy between industry and the University of Alaska (UA), while serving as a bridge to resources, expertise and talents across the entire UA system. Offering economic development related research and technical assistance, high-level professional education, small business development services, and youth entrepreneurship programming, the work of the BEI not only links UA economic development programs, but also supports business and entrepreneurial capacities across Alaska.
The AERC supports environmental research and monitoring through contractual arrangements with granting agencies. The program seeks to provide new opportunities for the UA community in applied research via coordination of environmental work supported primarily by federal agencies.
This is a pool from which AERC will draw when research technicians are needed to work on grant-funded projects. This position may be part time.
Education/Training: High School diploma or equivalent. Applicant should be enrolled in Spring semester 2019 at UAA with a minimum GPA of 2.0.
Required Experience: Six months of office, customer service or similar experience is required. Experience is required in general office procedures and equipment, and the candidate must show a high level of competence in using Microsoft Windows office suite or software (minimum: Word, Excel, PowerPoint). Knowledge of University processes and procedures is desirable
