University Housing Dining Conference Services works with multiple conference groups and visiting guests each summer. Conference Services provides housing accommodations within the (3) Residence Halls for short term guest stays, and MAC/Templewood Apartments for long term guest stays.

Our department’s summer guest housing program operates from May 24th until August 4th, 2019 with employment dates on or around May 5th through, on or around, August 17th. We operate much like a hotel environment. Guest Housing Representatives may work directly with the guests during a 6 hour shift while receiving guests at one of the 3 halls and the Housing Commons desk, preparing key packets & reservation for guest arrival, checking guests in and out, managing a conference database while demonstrating excellent customer service as you interact and assist guests daily. We will also have guest services representative teams scheduled to prepare rooms from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m. daily, or as needed, to prepare the (3) residence hall suites and all apartments for guest arrival by "prepping" the rooms which includes the complete cleaning of the entire suite, including the bathrooms, for each guest arrival, inventorying and distributing linens, amenities, and hospitality items. We provide a fast paced, fun working environment as you work in a team of approximately 20-30 teammates. This position entails all aspects of customer service in the areas of desk services, reservations, housekeeping, and other duties as assigned.

Initially, work hours could be up to 40 hours per week, (including training week of May 20-24), for the total deep clean of the residence halls and apartments to prepare for opening. Average work hours are typically 24-32 hours per week arranged by the Operations Manager & Guest Services Intern Supervisor’s in shifts beginning the first day of Summer Guest housing beginning as early as 7am on May 24th. Without exception, applicants must be available to begin employment the first week in May.  We are flexible with start dates, however we must keep special time off requests to a minimum this summer.

Applicants must be available to work & complete the entire job assignment employment period in order to receive the reduced housing benefit of shared, same gender apartment housing for the summer. The $900 housing cost is for the entire summer employment period including interim period. If the position is vacated early, the entire housing costs may be evoked and fees assessed equal to the summer sessions (including interim periods) housing cost.

If selected, the $60 non-refundable summer housing application fee will be assessed at time of assignment. Current students who have applied for their summer housing by April 15th will not have to pay an application fee. In addition, a $300 deposit will be assessed to the UAA student account upon approval to hire and receipt of all signed agreements. If you are currently living in housing for the spring semester your housing deposit will roll over for the summer semester.

We provide a fast paced, fun working environment as you assist many conference group attendees, many of which are in Alaska for the first time.

Work hours are typically a minimum of 24 up to, but not guaranteeing, 40 hours per week. Applicants must be available for training 9am-5pm daily starting May 20-24, 2018 without exception prior to our opening on May 24th.
