Position Summary:

UAF Human Resources needs you to join their Personnel/Payroll Team! Be a part of an exciting and dynamic team that is responsible for the processing of employee personnel actions through careful review and timely data entry, to accomplish UAF payroll. We are looking for a self-motivated individual with strong interpersonal skills to provide excellent customer service and navigate change. They should have proficient knowledge of database software, spreadsheets, and word processing.


15Technical/ Training Assistance - Provide information and technical assistance to PPA''s, HR consultants and other staff as necessary. Assist with and participate in PPA training. Provide input to applicable sections of PPA resources.Essential
30Data Entry - Prioritize data entry of all personnel related actions into HR system, including new hires, personnel changes, deductions and terminations. Responsible for data entry of benefit related deductions and set-ups for all new and existing employees, including annual open enrollment period and other specialized deduction codes as they arise.Essential
45Process HR Documents - Receive, audit and complete all necessary data entry on job forms and process paperless personnel actions (EPAF) and terminations. Responsible for assuring all required paperwork is submitted correctly before entry in to the system. This includes specialized international documentation required for authorized employment. Communicate and resolve discrepancies with departments, requesting additional information as appropriate. Refer unusual or problematic personnel actions to appropriate HR consultant team. Must keep up to date on changes and new processes as they evolve.Essential
5Audit/Reporting HR Documents - Under the direction of Manager, review and monitor completed system entry processes. Ensure compliance with applicable student hire regulations, collective bargaining agreements and system issues.Essential
5Records Management and Customer Service - Assist with records in assuring proper sorting of all personnel action forms. Responsibility of all human resource staff to assist with variety of departmental functions such as reception and filing as time allows.Essential

About this position:

Position is Term- Funded, Non-Exempt and Full-Time.  Salary is Grade 76, minimum $19.15 hourly, DOE.


Knowledge/Skills/Abilities Required:

General background in personnel administration. Familiarity with federal and state employment law. Organizational, management and effective oral and written communication skills, familiarity with payroll procedures. Ability to operate standard business machines, personal computers and associated software. Knowledge of automated human resource and financial systems, spreadsheets and reporting tools. Provide excellent customer service.

Strong effective interpersonal skills to provide good customer service. Prioritize data entry workload to ensure accurate and timely entry of personnel actions. Interpret established procedures, policies and regulations to handle incorrect or incomplete paperwork. Regularly review discrepancy reports and initiate corrections to ensure accuracy of all data entry.



Familiarity with University procedures, policies and regulations. 1-3 years experience.


Education and/or Training Required for This Position:

One year of technical human resources experience or the equivalent combination of training and experience.


Type and Length of Experience Required for This Position:

College coursework in human resources.

Term Position:

This position is a term-funded position and is reviewed annually for contract renewal at the University's discretion.

Probationary Period:

Pursuant to University Regulation 04.07.020, new employees of the University are employed in an at-will probationary status for the first six months of employment. During the probationary period, employment may be terminated for no reason or any reason. Promoted employees also serve a probationary period with limited rights of retreat.
