Position Summary:

The employee will perform various tasks associated with Housing Maintenance while maintaining and repairing 390,225 square feet of resident halls and apartment style living facilities and associated common areas. General maintenance duties will include carpentry, plumbing, HVAC, locksmith, texture and paint, fixing and repairing kitchen appliances, operating university vehicles and landscaping equipment. This will be in an effort to maintain a safe, clean living environment for our students and conference guests.

Duties:

30% - light plumbing to include repairing/ replacing toilets, snaking toilets and sinks, replacing faucet and shower components, repairing glycol and water leaks, repairing drain lines 30% - Sheet rock repair, texture and paint . 10% - Lock maintenance, change batteries fix or repair mortise and cylindrical locks 10% - Grounds Maintenance, mowing, raking, trimming, snow removal, shoveling, sanding, chipping ice. 10% - Carpentry, sanding, using power tools, saws, 10% - Furniture installation and repair. Three years experience and/or training; or equivalent certification in multi-trades or equivalent combination of education and experience. Demonstrated experience in commercial setting performing general maintenance and repairs including carpentry, plumbing, hvac, locksmith, drywall texture and paint, snow removal and landscaping.

Physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform essential functions of this job. The employee frequently is required to stand and reach with hands and arms. The employee is required to walk, sit, climb, and balance. The employee must regularly lift and /or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift/or move up to 70 pounds individually and greater weights in team efforts. Specific vision requirements for this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to focus.
