University of Alaska Southeast (UAS) School of Arts and Sciences is seeking qualified applicants to teach business courses during the Spring 2019 semester within the Department of Business and Public Administration (BPA). In keeping with the UAS mission, we have a commitment to innovation and flexibility to ensure high quality education and training.
100% This position is responsible for teaching undergraduate courses in Spring 2019 in an asynchronous online format. Adjuncts are expected to be proactive and collaborative in developing and modifying curriculum with oversight from full-time faculty. Duties include developing a course outline and syllabus, preparing teaching materials, coaching and instructing students, and determining appropriate assessment methods with accompanying grading. The instructor is also responsible for contributing to curriculum development, and maintaining up-to-date knowledge of subject areas. Demonstrable skills in teaching business courses at the lower-division course level
Able to deliver high quality instruction through appropriate academic preparation
Effective oral and written communication skills
Familiar with computer and other technologies for instruction, such as Blackboard
Experience teaching in an online environment
Education & Experience
Master of Business Administration or Masters degree in a related field (minimum)
Advanced academic training or professional experience that corresponds with course
Previous successful online teaching experience highly preferred
Experience working successfully with people of diverse cultural and ethnic backgrounds

Adjunct positions are granted on a semester-by-semester basis and often depend on enrollment. Adjunct contracts do not guarantee employment beyond the specific semester for which they are issued. Qualified applicants for this position will be placed into a hiring pool for the academic year 2018-19 and instructors will be hired for assignments as needed. Adjuncts are paid a minimum of $1,186.93 per credit per semester.
