The Department of Social Sciences at the University of Alaska Southeast is hiring a tenure-track Assistant Professor of Psychology to begin in fall 2019. Instructor duties will include entry-level psychology courses and classes in our emerging behavioral health program. This is a full time, 9-month, UNAC, Assistant Professor position. PhD in Psychology in a related field.
Demonstrated ability to teach introductory/survey psychology courses.
Demonstrated ability teach upper division psychology courses in areas of applicant’s interest and specialization.
2-3 years previous experience teaching undergraduate psychology courses.
Previous experience teaching diverse student populations.
Ability to offer interdisciplinary courses in areas such as social psychology, political psychology, gender and sexuality, cultural psychology, and/or health-related fields.
Ability to contribute to the development of a certificate in behavioral health.
Ability to teach in an interdisciplinary department and in interdisciplinary programs with individuals Social Science, Natural Science, and Humanities fields.
Experience working with first generation students, non-traditional students, Native American/Alaska Native/American Indian and other diverse student groups.
Experience teaching courses in an online/distance or blended/hybrid learning environment.
Familiarity with Alaska and interest in carrying out research in the region.
Willingness to deliver effective undergraduate instruction in Southeast Alaska, the cultural homeland of Tlingit, Haida and Tsimshian peoples.
This is a 9-month, full-time, faculty appointment, complete with a competitive salary and full
