This is a union represented position. Shuttle driver may be tasked with other duties as assigned. Under supervision, may routinely perform a variety of semi-skilled maintenance and light construction duties in a combination of several trades or crafts such as plumbing; carpentry; painting; landscape and agricultural installation and maintenance; light construction; and equipment maintenance.
The successful candidate may need to provide a copy of complete driving record.
**UAF is looking for part-time shuttle bus driver(s) for our on-campus shuttle bus system. The work will be through the winters with two and a half months off contract during the summer. If you’re looking for part-time work through the winters and to go fishing/play during the summer months, have a solid work history as a commercial driver with CDL and Passenger endorsement, we would love to have you as part of our team!
The preferred candidate for this position will have a documented work history that ensures and demonstrates the skills and abilities listed above have been developed and practiced in a safe and effective way.
Must have and always maintain a current valid minimum Class B, Alaska Commercial Driver's License with passenger and air brakes endorsements. Perform other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Knowledge of State, local, and campus traffic laws. *Familiarity with basic hand tools in order to provide light maintenance. *Ability to provide customer service in a polite and friendly manner. *Experience in performing routine maintenance associated with pre-trip inspection of the shuttle bus. *Ability to follow instructions. *Able to perform work outside under adverse conditions, willingness to work as directed with little supervision and with a variety of people. *Ability to operate various shuttle buses effectively, occasionally in extreme winter weather conditions. *Must have and always maintain a current Commercial Driver's License with passenger and airbrakes endorsements with a clean record. A background check and a drug-screening test will be required before final employment offer is made.

This is a University of Alaska Local 6070 union represented position. Current University of Alaska Local 6070 employees will be provided priority employment considerations for the first 5 days, when they meet the minimum qualifications for the posted position. Salary Information: MSW3/Step 7 $17.64/hr.; (See Article 9.2 in the L6070 Collective Bargaining Agreement, Wage Grade Schedule - http://www.alaska.edu/labor/local-6070/ . This is a part-time, benefited position, 10 months (mid August to mid May), hours vary.

L6070- At-will: Pursuant to Article 1.7 of the Local 6070 Collective Bargaining Agreement, upon initial hire Local 6070 Bargaining Unit Members are probationary for the first six (6) months of work. During the probationary period, employment may be terminated for no reason or any reason.
