UAF's Community and Technical College is seeking a Tenure Track Assistant Professor of Paramedicine to join the growing Emergency Services Department and Paramedic Academy. The successful candidate will teach classes, provide academic counseling, assist in maintaining the skills lab, assist in curriculum development. This position requires a current Paramedic NREMT Certification or State License, a minimum of three years experience as a Paramedic, one year teaching experience and a Baccalaureate degree. A Masters degree OR be working to obtain a Masters degree within two years of appointment is preferred.

This is a Tenure Track position.
This position supports the University of Alaska bipartite mission of performing teaching and public service, which may include offerings in rural communities, and participating in University and community service activities.
UAF CTC employs a diverse population of approximately 40 full-time faculty and 300 adjunct faculty who are represented by two unions and a staff of about 40. Approximately 3300 students attend UAF CTC. They are culturally diverse and include many non-traditional students and students from the military community.
Candidates will be evaluated on suitability of their academic preparation, past teaching experience, potential for providing high quality instruction to undergraduate students and ability to work as a team player.
The successful candidate must clearly demonstrate they possess the following requirements for this position:
-Baccalaureate degree or higher.
-Current paramedic NREMT Certification or State License.
-Minimum of three years of pre-hospital care experience at the paramedic level.
-Minimum one year of responsibility for coordinating education for advance life support pre-hospital care providers within the proceeding five years.
-Minimum of one year teaching experience in the paramedic field.
-At least 50 hours teaching in eight or more of the subject areas contained in the United States Department of Transportation National Curriculum to an audience that included paramedics.
Additionally, the successful candidate must possess:
-Ability to communicate well, both written and oral.
-Comprehensive understanding of ethical responsibilities.
-Strong competency in critical thinking skills.
-Demonstrated ability to work with people of all ages, cultures, races, ethnicity, and socioeconomic backgrounds.
Although not required, the following knowledge, skills and abilities are also preferred:
-A Masters degree OR be working to obtain a Masters degree within two years of appointment.
-Computer skills with MS applications, including PowerPoint.
UAF CTC offers 40 associate degrees, certificates, and occupational endorsements at 9 locations throughout Fairbanks and the Tanana Valley of Interior Alaska.
