University of Alaska Southeast (UAS) School of Arts and Sciences is recruiting qualified applicants for its pool of adjunct instructors in Business and Public Administration, Humanities, Natural Sciences, and Social Sciences to teach courses during the Spring and Fall semesters of 2019 and 2020. In keeping with the UAS mission, we have a commitment to innovation and flexibility to ensure high quality education and training. We seek applicants who possess a desire to help students succeed in reaching their goals.
100% Prepare syllabus consistent with approved UAS course content guide. Prepare instruction appropriate to student learning outcomes and class delivery mode, e.g. face-to-face, blended, on-line. Evaluate student learning. Provide timely feedback to students on their learning, respond to student questions about the class in a timely manner and submit final grades on-time. Essential

Alaska Native Languages
Alaska Native Studies
Some departments or programs may require a minimum degree, license or certification in the subject program.
Past teaching experiences, or experience relevant to the effective teaching of their specific field, and potential for providing high-quality instruction to undergraduate students in assigned courses.
Ability to navigate required UAS administrative paperwork periodically.
Effective oral and written communication skills.
Familiar with computer and other technologies for instruction, such as Blackboard
Education & Experience:
Masters or closely related field with 18 graduate semester credits in specific programs.
Previous successful teaching experience at the university or high school level.
Experience working successfully with people of diverse cultural and ethnic backgrounds.

Adjunct positions are granted on a semester-by-semester basis and often depend on enrollment. Adjunct contracts do not guarantee employment beyond the specific semester for which they are issued. Qualified applicants for this position will be placed into a hiring pool for the academic year 2018-19 and instructors will be hired for assignments as needed. Adjuncts are paid a minimum of $1,175.20 per credit per semester.
