Our BUILD-funded Biomedical Learning and Student Training (BLaST) program will enhance capacity for undergraduate biomedical research training and efficacy for engaging students from diverse, especially rural Alaskan, backgrounds in education and training for biomedical research careers.

5 Document/record time spent with students. Completing survey regarding identifying and addressing problems with students understanding of course material. Essential
95 Assist students in Math and Chemistry courses to successfully complete courses by providing tutoring support. Hold regularly scheduled tutoring sessions or open tutoring sessions during pre-established hours.
Schedule tutoring sessions before exams. Conduct individual and group tutoring. Increase student proficiency in math and chemistry courses.
Identify students individual needs to promote academic success. Remind students of tutoring sessions. Identify, contact and establish plan of action for struggling or failing students.
Excellent communication and people skills.
Excellent math skills up to Calculus 1 and chemistry skills up to Organic Chemistry F321.
Ability to maintain confidentiality. Essential
Student Assistant C position for the BLaST and Rural Student Services Departments.
BLaST and Rural Student Services programs are looking for two part time math and chemistry tutors to assist students in obtaining academic excellence. Flexible schedules are needed.
Training Education: High school diploma or equivalent.
Math education level with experience ranging from DEVM 054 to F251 -Calculus 1. Chemistry education level with experience ranging from F103X to F321. (Organic Chemistry)
