Position Summary:

This vacancy announcement is for a Post Doctoral Fellow position(s) for the Department of Geological Sciences in the College of Arts & Sciences at the University of Alaska Anchorage.

Duties:

100%The successful applicant will be expected to conduct field and/or laboratory research in Geological Sciences (Stratigraphy). The successful applicant should be able to independantly plan and safely execute collection of stratigraphic data in remote locations, analyze data and publish results with limited supervision. Additionally, the successful candidate should have strong teamwork and project management skills and demonstrate the ability to work in a team setting. The ideal candidate will also posess the following skills: measure stratigraphic section, describe core, process-based sedimentology, subsurface data interpretation, sequence-stratigraphic correlation and basic understanding of sedimentary basin formation.Essential

Education and Experience:

Ph.D. degree (already received, or having completed all requirements and awaiting graduation).

Successful applicants must provide Official Transcripts documenting academic credentials required for the position as a condition of employment. Qualifying earned degrees must be conferred either by institutions of higher education which are accredited by one of the six US regional accrediting associations or by an equivalent international institution of higher education as determined by UAA based on a review by a foreign educational credential evaluation service and recognized by UAA.
