Position Summary:

Invitation to apply for a Posdoctoral Researcher position in the learning sciences at the University of Alaska Fairbanks. The University of Alaska Fairbanks (UAF) is seeking a postdoctoral researcher in the learning sciences or a closely related field. The postdoctoral researcher will join the team of an NSF-funded project that provides and studies in-person and online professional development to informal educators in the context of STEAM.

Duties:

100The learning sciences postdoc will provide in-person and online professional development to informal educators in the context of STEAM (science, technology, engineering, art and math). The project aims to study the ways in which educators take up effective, identity, and equity-based STEAM practices and apply them to their work. The postdoc will conduct qualitative research including interviewing participants, analyzing data, writing up results for publication, and presenting at conferences.Essential

The University of Alaska Fairbanks (UAF) is seeking a postdoctoral researcher in the learning sciences or a closely related field. The postdoctoral researcher will join the team of an NSF-funded project that provides in-person and online professional development to informal educators in the context of STEAM (science, technology, engineering, art and math). The project aims to study the ways in which educators take up effective, identity and equity-based STEAM practices and apply them to their work. The incumbent will work in an interdisciplinary team of natural scientists, artists, and learning scientists from UAF, the University of Washington, Bothell, the UA Museum of the North, and the National Optical Astronomy Observatory. The position has a flexible start date as early as January 2019.

Required Education and Experience:

Ph.D. degree (already received, or has completed all requirements and awaiting graduation) with an emphasis in Learning Sciences or a related field. Preference will be given to those with experience with museums, libraries, or other informal learning venues.

Salary Information:

This position is full-time, exempt, term-funded, Grade 00_40 (Salary commensurate with experience)

Non-Represented Staff (Probationary Period):

Pursuant to University Regulation 04.07.020, new employees of the University are employed in an at-will probationary status for the first six months of employment.   During the probationary period, employment may be terminated for no reason or any reason.  Promoted employees also serve a probationary period with limited rights of retreat.

Term Positions:

This position is a term-funded position through June 30, 2019, and is reviewed annually for contract renewal at the University's discretion.
