Position Summary:

Intern opportunity - Are you a junior or senior engineering student with a 3.0+ GPA and an interest in working on renewable energy projects to benefit Alaska communities? Are you interested in gaining hands-on experience and are you willing to travel to remote communities? Join UAF's Alaska Center for Energy and Power's new program connecting UA students with utilities in communities across the state. Duties: During Spring Semester, interns will participate in weekly seminars preparing them for a twelve-week Summer assignment with one of Alaska's utilities. While specific tasking will vary depending on the needs of the utilities and the capabilities of the individual interns, interns can anticipate they will work with technical staff and field personnel on assignments that could include effective system management, asset deployment and integration, equipment performance analysis, and stakeholder consultation. Each intern will be partnered with an ACEP team member who will be available to them for consultation throughout the course of their internship. Key Attributes: Junior or Senior standing in an Engineering program, with 3.0+ GPA. Demonstrated proficiency in operation of personal computers (Microsoft Word and Excel required; databases preferred). Ability to work independently with minimum supervision. Ability to understand and execute oral and written instructions and questions, and handle multiple tasks using independent judgment. Ability to deal with the public in a tactful, courteous, and pleasant manner.
