The Rural Student Services Department is hiring an Office Manager!
Support the RSS planning team with the facilitation of planning of RSS events, and assist in carrying out planned events.
Direct student assistant workers and volunteers in the preparation for and during events. Essential
20 Outreach and Communication
Communicate with a large number of individuals, including students, faculty, staff, UAF and local community members, as well as rural school district personnel, tribal organizations, and state funding agencies. Receive and screen visitors, in person and via phone and email. Receive guidance about the program. Coordinate daily office activities such as scheduling of appointments and demonstrate understanding and the practice of FERPA regulations.
Assist director to network, coordinate, and collaborate with schools statewide including outreach done in person, by phone, fax, email, audioconference and/or social media. Assist director with developing and implementing strategies to make connections with prospective RSS students.
Design, coordinate and implement student communication campaign within a general set of guidelines. Assist in planning and coordinate, publicise, and document student attendance at workshops and events. Manage mailings, recognition, and social media accounts.
Design, create and edit department newsletter, brochures, webpage and other publications to include fliers, applications, press releases, annual reports, and other correspondence.
Assit with tutoring outreach and referral of students in specific subject areas. Essential
5 Technical Support
Provide computer technical support for RSS. Upgrades and troubleshoots student and staff personnel computer systems. Train staff and students with new computer systems/software/updates.
Independently researches and responds to requests for information and provides support for special projects.
Coordinates the proctoring and recording of Accuplacer and ALEKS testing locally and remotely. Essential
55 Office Management
Supervise one to four student office assistants/tutors.
Maintain yearly FERPA certificates and memberships for staff and student employees.
Initiate, prepare, and process departmental paperwork, such as recruitment and hiring of student employees, travel, purchasing, budget, student information and outreach.
Assist director in planning and managing of annual operational budget. Track, reconcile and monitor departmental expenditures. Maintain current knowledge of university fiscal policies and procedures by attending university and administrative training.
Manage fiscal operation which includes resolving discrepancies, executing purchasing transactions, and producing regular departmental budget reports.
Attend and participate in staff meetings, in-services, committees and special events including community outreach. Take notes, produce minutes, and attend university functions.
Provide department and student support for RSS course including, but not limited to, RD 100.
Coordinate scholarships including, but not limited to, the Alaska Native Scholarship. Essential
