The Egan library, University of Alaska Southeast, is seeking a part-time reference librarian to cover evening and weekend desk shifts. Research and reference assistance at Egan Library is provided to all members of the on-site and virtual UAS community in-person and via phone, email, and chat. Under the supervision of the Information Literacy Librarian, temporary reference librarians play an important role, maintaining full services during hours of operations. Professional training and development opportunities will be provided as needed. We are seeking individuals who have previously demonstrated their ability to handle reference inquires, communicate effectively with library patrons, and work under minimum supervision. Education & Experience
One year of relevant experience that demonstrated knowledge of library resources, service provisions, and technology troubleshooting abilities.
A Master’s degree in library/information studies is required.
Experience successfully working with people of diverse cultural and ethnic backgrounds is preferred.
Effective written and verbal communication skills.
Excellent customer service skills.
Ability to lift up to 25 lbs.
Reliable and dependable.
This is a
Grade 78 part-time, casual temporary staff assignment and the incumbent will work no more than 14 hours per week. There are no benefits associated with this position.
