UAA General Support Services includes the Copy & Print Center, Mailroom/Central Receiving, Surplus & Relocation, and Recycling functions. The Graphic Designer reports to the Document Services Supervisor within Copy & Print and provides print design services to a wide variety of customers, both internal and external.
25 • Address customer concerns and assist those with complex or unusual requests, making referrals to the supervisor or director as appropriate.

75 • Utilize complex graphic design software, reflective and transparency scanner, laser printers, proofing printer and various computer peripherals to produce a wide range of printed products. Includes preparation of print ready files for digital and offset production.

The Graphic Designer position is part of the UAA Copy & Print team, providing graphic design services to a wide variety of customers, both internal and external. The successful candidate will demonstrate strong technical skills and experience related to design for print as outlined in the full position requirements provided. Must be detail oriented with strong quality and productivity orientation. Strong organizational and prioritizing skills. Effective communication skills both verbally and in writing. Excellent customer service skills to include the ability to work with diverse personalities with tact and diplomacy. Ability to work with limited supervision daily and also as a productive member of a team. Ability to troubleshoot and problem solve. Candidates who are selected for interview will be required to provide a portfolio of print materials they have designed.
Knowledge, practical skills and experience related to design for print, including software programs including Adobe InDesign, Photoshop and Illustrator. Strong conceptual development, visualization, typography, and print design layout skills. Ability to create design layouts based on concepts and/or direction from creative briefs with customers. Strong communication skills, both verbally and in writing. Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a team. Excellent customer service skills and ability to work with diverse personalities. Understanding of pre-press, digital and offset print processes. Able to effectively prioritize and handle multiple projects of varying difficulty and size while consistently meeting deadlines. Attention to detail with a focus on quality and accuracy in all phases of design process. Ability to effectively analyze, troubleshoot and problem solve.
Minimum one year relevant experience in professional graphic design for print publication.
Typical Education or Training:
Bachelor's degree in Public Relations, Journalism, Communications or related field and one year relevant experience or an equivalent combination of training and experience
Minimum Starting Hourly Pay: 21.59
