Position Summary:

Lab Tech/Office Assistants/Recitation Leader are hired on a per semester basis. The ANSEP Lab is open to ANSEP students at the following timesduring the Fall and Spring semesters: Monday Thursday: 8 a.m. to 11 p.m. Friday: 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. Saturday & Sunday: 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. Extended hours during midterms, finals and special ANSEP events. Lab Tech/Office Assistants/Recitation Leader are needed to cover shifts during the above mentioned time periods. During the shifts Lab Tech/Office Assistants/Recitation Leader will be responsible for building security; manning lab tech station; troubleshooting computer/printer problems; cleaning and organizing the computer lab, kitchen, recitation rooms, and storage rooms. Assist ANSEP staff as needed, performing daily office tasks related to daily operations of ANSEP. Extra Lab Tech/Office Assistants/Recitation Leader will be hired on an "oncall" basis, to assist ANSEP staff as needed or fill hours left vacant by regularly scheduled lab techs. Organizes and Leads weekly student study sessions for the STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, & Mathematics) courses. Candidate should be able to clearly explain the principles and information presented in the courses. In addition, candidate will need to demonstrate leadership to the students. The number of students will vary weekly so candidate should be prepared to deal with these fluctuations. Recitation leaders maintain attendance records and submit them weekly to the ANSEP Student Success Manager.

We raise the bar for student expectations and measure programmatic effectiveness using academic outcomes. ANSEP student performance exceeds state and national averages at each academic level.  Every successful ANSEP pre-college student is on track to earn the Alaska Performance Scholarship.  There are more than 2,000 ANSEP students in the ANSEP pipeline.  We are rapidly increasing the number of ANSEP students academically and socially prepared for science and engineering BS degrees prior to high school graduation.  ANSEP is the most successful and cost effective STEM program in the nation.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities: 

Duties require considerable knowledge and skills in regard to computer lab maintenance and supervision. Ability to exercise independent judgement and decision making during shift with minimal supervision. Ability to work independently and complete tasks as assigned within deadlines.

Required Experience:

At least 6 months previous experience in an education setting, supervising or leading students. 6 months administrative experience preferred. 

Typical Education or Training:

Currently enrolled in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics) degree program or program approved by ANSEP staff.

Minimum Starting Hourly Salary: $10.50

Ability to work as part of a team and motivate others to work as part of a team. Ability to communicate well and speak in front of a group as the leader of the group. 

Required Experience:

Have taken recitation course and passed with a "B" or better.

Typical Education or Training:

Currently enrolled in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics) degree program or program approved by ANSEP staff.
