Position Summary:

If you have a PhD and would like to collaborate with faculty and researchers at the International Arctic Research Center, please consider applying to the IARC Temporary Faculty pool. IARC serves as a focal point of excellence for international collaboration and provides the arctic research community with an unprecedented opportunity to share knowledge about science in the Arctic, with an emphasis on global climate change research.



The International Arctic Research Center is accepting applications for Adjunct Faculty (Non-Credit) to join our team. Applicants from this pool will be reviewed as needed during the year. The closing date for this recruitment is June 30, 2019. IARC was established in 1999 as a cooperative research institute supported by both U.S. and Japanese governments. IARC's mission is to foster Arctic research in an international setting to help the nation and the international community to understand, prepare for, and adapt to the pan-Arctic impacts of climate change.


Incumbents will join faculty and researchers who are active in conducting research in a wide variety of disciplines pursued at IARC (see www.iarc.uaf.edu) including but not limited to: methane gas emissions, all aspects of data research, oil spill response/recovery research, research related to detection of contemporary environmental change, and interactions and feed backs in atmosphere-ice-ocean research.


Sufficient relevant experience to contribute significantly to a specific project. Experience with the use of computers and other appropriate equipment to conduct the research proposed. Strong interpersonal and communication skills. Applicants typically provide their own grant funding.


PhD in a relevant discipline. 


2-3 years of relevant work. Successful candidates often have demonstrated experience in bringing in research funding and typically have their own grant funding.

*Compensation is commensurate with experience and type of work assigned.*


This is a pooled position and successful submission of an application does not guarantee employment.

This position is a term-funded position through June 30th annually and is reviewed for contract renewal at the University's discretion.
