The College of Education is seeking applications for a full-time advisor position in the Student Services Office.
15 Student Outreach. Conduct outreach to potential students and other constituents. Develop presentations and present information regarding academic programs in the College of Education. Attend local and state conferences to promote programs. Engage in recruitment activities for particular programs. Prepare marketing and advertising materials for dissemination at events. Assist with public relations activities including providing support to faculty and staff for the development of brochures, poster, etc. Essential
5 Special Projects. Assist the Dean''s Office with special projects and reports related to advising, recruitment and retention, as well as other duties as assigned.
Advise Club Ed and/or the Teaching and Learning Community (TLC) on event planning, fundraising, COE events and activities, and education awareness. Essential
5 Student Academic Success Training. Provide training for staff and faculty. Work with staff and faculty to develop and maintain accurate student academic success documents. Maintain the COE Student Academic Success Handbook and ensure that all staff and faculty are familiar with guidance procedures and the services available to students across campus. Serve as a member of Student Academic Success team and participate in the weekly meetings and joint activities. Provide back-up support to Student Services as necessary. Essential
75 Academic Program Guidance and Retention efforts across the College of Education (COE), especially for preservice education majors. Coordinate student success and retention efforts across the College of Education (COE). Provide information and guidance to students across programs individually and in group sessions, face-to-face and via distance technologies. Using established guidelines, recommend course of action, services or programs for student success. Answer inquiries relating to academic success in COE and at the University level. Serve as the COE student academic success liaison to the UAA Advising and Counseling Office and CAS as well as UAA''s community campuses. Work with special programs, such as UA Scholars and LAP (lack of academic progress) students. Maintain accurate and current student records, including entry of data in the College''s student database. Essential

Knowledge of and the ability to interpret and enforce College and University policies and procedures.
Knowledge of marketing/advertising principles.
Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Ability to troubleshoot situations to determine the best course of action.
Required Experience: Minimum of two years experience with organizational/program practices, including program development and coordination, and working with people from diverse cultural and social backgrounds. A combination of education and experience will safisfy these requirements.
Education/Training: Bachelor’s degree in related field and two years relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
