Position Summary:

The Community & Technical College is seeking applications for two full-time Student Success Coaches.

Duties:

10OTHER STUDENT SUCCESS SUPPORT: Develop presentations and present information regarding the Division’s programs to students, staff, faculty and concerned community members in various forms. Coordinate and plan events such as group advising or college orientation activities. Schedule courses, order textbooks and manage course materials. Assist with administration of curriculum development. Working through appropriate university offices, prepare marketing/advertising materials for dissemination at events. Support the development and implementation of division enrollment management and outreach plans through collaboration with college SEM committee and University Relations staff; maintain division websites and social media presence. Prepare, update, and translate informational materials for students. Assist in student recruitment efforts and participate in recruiting, career fairs, and other events as directed.Essential
20MANAGEMENT OF STUDENT DEGREE PROGRESS: Create and maintain appropriate schedule of success coaching sessions and records management system for student-related files to ensure the Division’s students understand and are supported to complete all degree and program requirements. Conduct periodic reviews of system performance and recommend process improvements as needed.Essential
20STUDENT SUCCESS COORDINATION AND DOCUMENTATION: Assist faculty and students with prerequisite tracking, overrides, and degree audits as requested. Document all advising sessions in Banner. Actively participate in assigned committees and/or councils. Maintain proficiency in BANNER, DegreeWorks, OnBase, and other university data management systems. Assist with catalog and curriculum updates and changes. Serve as a back-up to all other CTC SSC positions and cross-train with CTC peer positions to ensure coverage during absences.Essential
50ENTRY AND PLACEMENT FOR STUDENT SUCCESS: Assist students to identify and access appropriate academic support services, (tutoring, coaching) financial aid, veteran’s assistance, testing services, and other support services as warranted. Assist students in refining or adjusting initial course placements by reviewing prior courses, transfer credits, standardized test scores and other objective data to ensure that multiple measures are considered in determining placement into required general education courses and prerequisites for each division’s courses. During add/drop periods, assist students with course or section changes. Comply with all federal FERPA regulations and confidentiality procedures and institutional policies applicable to testing and placement data management. Protect the security of student information and records as required, including paper and electronic media. Ensure students have completed UAA admissions procedures and information technology applications to include email and Blackboard enrollment. Ensure students are aware of important dates and deadlines. Following established University protocols, maintain ongoing communication with assigned students, supporting UAA goals for student retention, academic successes, and graduation.Essential

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

Strong knowledge of the Division’s courses and programs, UA academic policies and procedures, UAA academic requirements, and campus support services; ability to assess and refer students to appropriate non-curricular services for assistance; knowledge of state and federal laws and legal issues associated with, and applicable to, academic support in higher education.  Strong computer skills with various software programs to include databases, spreadsheets, and word processing (Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint preferred). Experience with the Banner data warehouse, or ability to be trained within one month of hire.  Exceptional customer service and interpersonal skills required. A strong command of the English language to include verbal, written, and public speaking/presentations. Ability to maintain the strictest of confidentiality.

The Student Success Coach must be able to work independently or as a member of a team as needed. Must interact effectively with diverse individuals and groups in a fast-paced environment, and have the ability to function collaboratively in a complex organizational structure. Ability to work with a diverse population.

The successful candidates must have a minimum of an Associate’s degree in one of the fields offered by the college and substantial relevant experience, or a Bachelor's degree with one year of relevant experience. As part of the application process, applicants should provide a minimum of three letters of recommendation speaking directly to their student support experience. Successful candidates that do not possess a Bachelor's degree at the time employment will be required to obtain their degree within 3 years.  A minimum of two years of experience successfully supporting academic success of college students of diverse ages, abilities, and cultures is also required.
