UAS Facilities Services is seeking a student assistant to help perform recycling services around the Junea campus. The student hired will perform these services and learn about Facilities Maintenance and Operations Management. This is an excellent opportunity for a student to gain experience and insight into Facilities administration.
100 A student recycling assistant will provide primary support to institutional recycling effort. Perform recycling services around the Juneau campus this includes but is not limited to the following: The collection of aluminum cans, paper, and other recyclables. Sort these recyclables as needed and deliver these to the appropriate recycling center. Perform cash collections and deposits as needed. Serve as a liaison with Facilities Services for collection and vehicle use. Essential
Dependability and ability to work independently.
Ability to lift or move 50 Lbs.
Ability to perform cash handling responsibilities, previous experience performing similar duties is desired.
Ability to work within a team setting and must be able to follow task instructions from the administrative staff.
Effective written and verbal communication skills.
Ability and willingness to learn technical systems and processes.
Alaska Driver's License with good driving record, required.
Student Employment Requirements
Must be a UAS student enrolled in a maximum of six credit hours throughout employment duration. Summer employees must be enrolled in at least six credits for the upcoming fall semester, and are not required to take summer courses for student employment.
Must maintain a 2.0 cumulative GPA, unless a first time freshman.
This is a full-time Student Assistant B ($9.50-$10.50/hourly) position during the summer and based on good performance the student maybe offered the opportunity to work part-time during the academic year. The initial applicant review will take place on May 28th, 2018.
