UAS is looking for a self motivated individual interested in supporting information technology users and systems. Do you have a positive attitude and an inclination toward superior customer service? If so, this is an excellent opportunity to assist campus users, work with computers, software, data networks, and telephone systems. This is a full time position in the Information Technology Services Department. Duties include developing, testing, and documenting desktop configurations and data networks; maintaining a Cisco VOIP system; as well as troubleshooting problems and identifying solutions. Applicants should have excellent analytical and communication skills. Professional experience supporting computer hardware, software, data networks, and VOIP is desired. Monitor knowledge base and work order system; update work histories and closure records. Essential
75 Provides primary support for technology needs in the campus computing environment including troubleshooting problems and identifying solutions.
Operates a variety of equipment, terminals, printers, consoles or other peripheral devices, reviewing and analyzing job requests, determining production requirements, conferring with users, monitoring jobs in process, identifying problems, initiating corrective actions.
Confers with and trains users or reviews requests for services or other information to identify requirements for information services.
Coordinates with operations or applications staff, contractors, or vendors as needed to provide required services or support and
recommends technology solutions.
This position provides primary support for telephone moves, adds, and changes, as well as telephone service troubleshooting. Essential
Education & Experience
One year college level coursework in a relevant field (i.e. Information Technology or another related field) and two years of professional experience; Or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
Associate’s degree in a relevant field (i.e. information technology) is Preferred;
Two years of professional experience supporting computer hardware, software, data networks, and VOIP is desired.
Experience working successfully with people of diverse cultural and ethnic backgrounds.
Advance knowledge of operation and technical applications.
Ability to detect problems with equipment logistics, system setup and configuration, system security, and software installation.
Ability to maintain, update, repair desktop computing hardware and software.
Ability to perform preventative maintenance, and attach workstations to networks, Intranet, and LAN servers.
Effective customer service and interpersonal skills.
Strong critical thinking skills.
This is the entry level position for a technician at UAS. This position has a career ladder to the IS Technician 6 level, as the incumbent attains responsibilities, training and experience on the job. This is a full-time,
