UAA is currently in search of an adjunct faculty for the Creative Writing & Literary Arts Program, which offers a Master of Fine Arts degree in poetry, literary nonfiction, or fiction through a low-residency format.
Candidates will be evaluated on suitability of their academic preparation, past teaching experience in graduate writing programs, and potential for providing high quality instruction to graduate writers. Successful candidates should possess an extensive knowledge in the art and craft of their selected genre, and must have an ability to work extensively in a one-on-one mentorship with graduate writers. Candidates should be experienced and knowledgeable in distance delivery technologies such as Blackboard.
At minimum, ONE published book is required (self-published books are not considered).
Applicant must have experience teaching creative writing at the university level.
Typical Education or Training:
MFA , MA in related field, or commensurate writing experience required.
Adjunct faculty position teaching course(s) for the Fall/Spring/Summer semesters. Faculty and graduate writers convene in Anchorage for an intensive residency session each summer on UAA's campus. During the rest of the academic year while MFA students are focused on their creative work students receive input and guidance from their advisors and mentors via prearranged, long-distance delivery teaching methods.
$1,187.01 per credit per semester (9 pay periods)
