Position Summary:

This is a pool from which the College of Arts and Sciences (CAS) Math and Natural Sciences, Humanities, Social Sciences, and Performing & Fine Arts will draw when research technicians are needed to work on grant-funded projects. The position may be part- or full-time. Acceptance into the hiring pool does not constitute an offer of employment. CAS Math & Natural Sciences, Humanities, Social Sciences, and Performing & Fine Arts conducts applied and fundamental scientific research and collects, synthesizes, archives, and distributes data, specimens, and knowledge, partly through conducting field work.

The Alaska Center for Conservation Science is a center for research, education, and scholarship at the University of Alaska Anchorage that is committed to providing the public, industry, and agency partners with information to facilitate effective biological conservation and management of the state’s natural resources. Our faculty and staff conduct basic and applied research, serve a wide range of data to the public, offer professional services, and provide educational opportunities.

This is a pool from which ACCS will draw when research technicians are needed to work on grant-funded projects. The position may be part- or full-time.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:  Knowledge of data collection procedures, data entry procedures, and computerized spreadsheets and databases. Ability to manipulate data to produce charts and graphs to display trends in data. Ability to interpret data results for reporting. Ability to work in remote locations, sometimes in extreme conditions. Ability to coordinate/lead the activities of others.

Required Experience: Varies by level of position need.
Research Technician 1: High school graduation and 6 months' experience in field relevant to research or equivalent combination of training and experience.
Research Technician 2: 1 year's relevant college coursework and 1 year's experience in relevant field, or equivalent combination training and experience.
Research Technician 3: 2 years' relevant college coursework and 2 years' relevant experience, or equivalent combination of training and experience.
Research Technician 4: Bachelor's degree in relevant field and 4 years' experience, or equivalent combination of training and experience.

Typical Education or Training: Varies by level of position need.
