Position Summary:

UAA Information Technology Services is seeking a highly qualified individual for the role of Software Deployment Engineer. The ideal candidate will have a solid background in the analysis, design, testing, building and maintenance of automated software deployments through standard deployment systems such as Microsoft System Center Configuration Manager (SCCM) and Windows Server Update Services (WSUS). 10Utilize Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL) processes for change, incident, problem and configuration management. Serve as a resource to UAA and community campus teams. Act as technical backstop for assigned responsibilities. Track and monitor assigned work and deadlines. Develop positive relationships with technical staff across the UA system. Develop knowledge, skills and abilities in the core functions of automated software deployments and stay abreast of industry changes. Participate in on-call as required. Provide regular status reports and updates to the supervisor.Essential
30Provide design, development, operational and administrative support for software deployment scripts, group policy objects and other automated deployment processes. Ensure all Software Distribution activities are tracked and recorded, and produce detailed reports on the results of the software distribution for validation purposes. Develop other integrations as required.Essential
5Develop and maintain monitoring and alerts for software deployment systems using the department''s centralized monitoring system. Perform complex troubleshooting activities to diagnose software distribution issues and restore/repair systems and services as quickly as possible.Essential
5Responsible for the development and maintenance of documentation, best practices, and reference guides, processes, procedures, manuals, source code repositories, training materials related to supported deployments. Train alternate team members for back up purposes. Other duties as assigned.Essential
50Analyze, design, test, build, maintain, document and schedule automated software deployments through standard deployment systems and architectures. Ensure deployments are accurate, timely, meet customer requirements and provide high performance, accuracy and security. Troubleshoot deployment performance. Troubleshoot software build performance on target workstations and servers. Ensure patching and upgrades are accounted for in designs and implementations. Develop MDM (mobile device management) configurations.Essential


Accountability for project management, typically impacting critical systems involving major work groups to include multiple functional areas; integration of new technologies is also required.

Ability to research and analyze of projects associated with software, hardware, data management, communications, and networks is required. Ability to integrate new technologies, strong written communication skills. Demonstrated professional knowledge/expertise in functional area(s) for the individual position (e.g. planning, analysis, programming, database administration, research/scientific subject matter specialty, communications, security, engineering). Knowledge/expertise is commensurate with assigned level.

Ability to operationally troubleshoot enterprise class applications and services, including change management and disaster recovery techniques; strong background in Windows Server and Windows web technologies

Typical Education or Training:

BS degree that relates to the discipline of Information Technologies or an acceptable combination of education and experience. No specific licenses are required. Microsoft professional certification will be required within 1 year of employment. MCSE: Mobility. Must acquire MCSE certification within one year. Must maintain current level MCSE certification
Minimum of three to five years of enterprise level systems analysis, design and development experience focused on a Windows environment, strong background in Microsoft Server technologies.

The individual will be required to carry a cell phone and participate in an on-call rotation.
