The University of Alaska Southeast Administrative Services Office of Student Accounts is seeking a detailed oriented, self-starter to serve as a Cashier. This fiscal technician provides support to the campus student accounts receivable functions including receipt of payment from students and agencies for tuition and fees, reconciliation of accounts, managing refunds, issuing billing statements and coordinating collections. The position acts as a liaison for third party agencies and student exchange programs and assists with the supervision of the lead cashier and student account staff. 10 Administrative clerical support: Change fund custodian, petty cash custodian, distribute incoming and out-going mail: USPS, inter-campus, and locked pouch from Administrative Services offices. Costco membership card custodian. Responsible for records management of student financial documents. Ensuring record archiving process compliance. Review and production of UAS Whale cards to students, staff, and alumni. Essential
10 Disburse and log refund checks, process and log credit card refunds. Disburse and record bus passes, special event tickets. Record and distribute non-accounts receivable checks received. Essential
10 Prepares daily deposits. Balances cash, credit cards, checks, and wire transfers to recorded revenues. Submits a reconciliation of daily cash receipts to supervisor. Essential
10 Provide accounting reconciliation and audit/research assistance to Bursar for clearing, balance sheet and other university financial accounts. Essential
30 Assist with student accounts receivable collections: Provide support to Bursar or Fiscal staff that manages collections by sending statements of accounts, contacting past due account holders via phone, mail, and e-mail. Preparing collections files for bad debt accounts or for write-off review. Establish and monitor accounting, financial aid, and housing holds on student accounts. Data entry of accounts receivable charges and adjustments onto student accounts as directed. Essential
30 Receives, researches, and processes payments for tuition, fees, housing, auxiliary operation departments, 3rd party payments, tuition waivers, and deferrals. Receive, record, and provide document compilation to Financial Aid department in a collaborative manner. Essential
Education & Experience
One year of experience in an entry-level fiscal position or a related field.
High School diploma, GED, or equivalent combination of training and experience.
Knowledge about basic accounting practices.
Ability to demonstrate basic accounting principals.
Ability to demonstrate strong customer services skills.
Ability to demonstrate effective interpersonal skills both in person and on the phone.
Effective written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to demonstrate effective organization and time management skills.
Ability to operate and troubleshoot a fax machine, copy machine, printer, phone skills, and 10-key.
Proficient in Microsoft Office suite and ability to learn a relational database financial system (i.e. Banner).
This is a full-time,
