Position Summary:

The Community & Technical College, Building Technologies Division is seeking a dynamic student to work part-time to assist with receptionist and administrative support duties in this professional office setting. The successful candidate will work collaboratively and independently at times with a variety of responsibilities depending on current need. Flexibility in arrangement of work schedule is possible.

Duties:

The Community & Technical College, Building Technologies Division is seeking a dynamic student to work part-time and assist with receptionist and administrative support duties in this professional office setting.  The successful candidate will work collaboratively and independently at times with a variety of responsibilities depending on current need.  Flexibility in arrangement of work schedule is possible.

Job duties will include but are not limited to:

  • Serve as first point of contact for programs within the Building Technologies Division.
  • Assist in general office duties such as answering multi-line phones, scheduling advising appointments, copying, filing, processing and logging incoming and outgoing mail, and fulfill receptionist duties.
  • Operate office equipment including copier, printers, fax machine, scanner, and multi-line phone.
  • Scan, shred, and/or copy documents.
  • Provide support to various internal projects and a variety of other duties as needed.

Required Knowledge and Skills:

Applicant must possess knowledge of basic computer software to include Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, and Adobe Acrobat). Excellent attention to detail. Willingness to learn and capability to quickly apply new knowledge. Ability to operate a variety of standard office machines. Ability to work well as a member of a team, and also to work independently on tasks as assigned.

Duties require specific knowledge and skills; the candidate should possess general office skills; excellent customer service skills; the ability to handle confidential information appropriately; excellent filing and categorization skills; effective written and oral communication skills; the ability to operate and coordinate service for office equipment; the ability to work independently and exercise good judgment; and demonstrate problem solving skills. Good organizational and customer service skills are essential to this position. Candidate must possess accurate keyboarding skills with a strong attention to detail and thoroughness. Proficiency with document (Word, Excel) preparation and email composition is necessary, as well as good proof-reading skills.  Must be able to work in a professional office environment.

Preferred Knowledge and Skills: Previous experience in an office environment is preferred.  Experience with handling confidential records desired.
