The Associate Director has the ability to manage multiple projects, shifting priorities as necessary to assure a timely completion. The Associate Director must be independent and resourceful to handle a hardy combination of professional, technical and clerical tasks. Duties:

The Alaska Library Network (ALN) is a non-profit organization representing over 70 libraries which strengthens and connects Alaska‚Äôs libraries through effective collaboration to better serve their communities. The Associate Director, with direction from the ALN Executive Director and a seven-member ALN Board of Directors, will help to manage and develop statewide programs and projects such as the Alaska Digital Library, the OCLC General Services Agreement, SLED, the Alaska Library Catalog, the Alaska Digital Archives and a variety of statewide and grant-related projects. The ALN Associate Director works in a collaborative problem-solving mode consulting with the Executive Director, the ALN Board, the directors of the member libraries, and with the State Library staff.   This position must be independent and resourceful to handle a hardy combination of professional, technical and clerical tasks. Tasks may include invoicing for services, making bank deposits, negotiating a new statewide contract, policy formation for a shared resource, conflict resolution, statistics generation, selecting titles for the Overdrive program, grant writing, proposing a new statewide program, supporting the statewide databases, attending Alaska State Library development meetings, keeping accurate documentation for grants, reviewing non-profit rules/guidelines, managing domains/mailing lists, and maintaining the ALN WordPress website.

The Associate Director must be independent and resourceful to handle a hardy combination of professional, technical and clerical tasks.

Required Experience:

At least two years of recent professional library experience with operational management responsibilities and working knowledge of current information and library technologies are required.
Preferred:
Alaska library experience is preferred. Background in developing and working with library consortia and/or other collaborative projects and with promoting and advocating for libraries are preferred. Experience working with non-profit organizations and board of directors and experience with securing grants are also preferred.
Preferred work location is Anchorage however consideration will be given for another location in Alaska with adequate Internet connections for videoconferencing.

Typical Education or Training:
