Position Summary:

Housing Resource Assistants (HRAs) promote the mission of University Housing, Dining, & Conference Services (UHDCS) in several key ways: by assisting and supporting residential students and other community members who have a variety of needs, questions, and issues; by promoting an ethos of belonging and engagement on UAA’s residential campus; and by supporting the many aspects of Conference and Dining Services at UAA.


University Housing Resource Assistants often serve as the first point of contact for residential students, community members, all conference guests.  HRAs engage students, build community, help solve problems, and provide accurate information about UHDCS services.  In addition, HRAs provide exceptional customer service and have advanced professional communication skills.  

Applicants should:

  • Enjoy working in a team environment
  • Consistently offer a high level of customer service by answering inquiries via phone, in person, and by email. 
  • Answer students' questions, manage student housing application information, provide directions, and assist with a variety of tasks related to dining, conference services, and university housing. 
  • Operate office equipment including multi-line phones, copier, fax machine and personal computer. 
  • Have the ability to work independently and as a team, and be self-directed and self-motivated.
  • Be able to work a flexible schedule from 12-20 hours per week in a fun working environment including some nights and weekends. 
  • Enjoy working in a team to support residential students, conference guests, and other UHDCS customers, which may include outreach to students and clients. 
  • Occasionally conduct facilities walk-throughs and report maintenance issues. 
  • Remaining on site at conference events to facilitate conference guest needs or technical situations as they arise. 
  • Room set up, audio visual set up and tear down/cleaning of conference rooms pertaining to daily conferences held at multiple sites on the UAA campus. 
  • Load and transport of tables, audio visual equipment to and from conferences held at multiple sites on the UAA campus.
  • Collecting and returning all transported equipment upon conclusion  of event.
  • Date entry and proficiency in Conference Services databases.
  • Answer and respond to calls from Conferencing duty phone in rotation with other student workers.
  • Occasionally clean and prepare emergency housing rooms and common areas for incoming guests.
  • Perform other duties as assigned for the UHDCS team.
