The UAS Student Resource Center (SRC) are seeking applicants to serve as a Peer Advisor during the spring 2018 semester. This is a great opportunity to obtain professional customer service experience, while attending classes. The SRC is an information center for the student advising, recruitment, counseling, and activities staff. A student assistant in this area will serve as an initial point of contact for appointment scheduling, student inquires, and other duties as assigned. Applications will be accepted on an on-going basis and filled as positions become available.
100 Provide students with general information about UAS degree programs, course prerequisites, faculty expectations, etc.
Teach students how to access UAOnline, UASOnline, DegreeWorks, and e-learning platforms.
Assist students in accessing placement testing, academic advising, disability support services, mental health counseling, health clinic services, career advising, academic exchange and study abroad programs.
Answer multiple phone lines, email accounts, and staff the front desk in the Student Resource Center; direct students to appropriate resources throughout UAS and the UA system.
With training, peer advisors will assist the academic advising staff by providing para-professional peer advising services
Assist with various projects as needed
Provide primary scheduling support for professional staff in the Student Resource Center including academic advisors, health services, career services, counseling, and disability support services.
Students will manage multiple calendars for these services, including setting appointments, making reminder phone calls, and making correct referrals to appropriate offices. Essential
Proficient in Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)
Effective written and verbal communication skills
Ability to provide excellent customer service
Dependability and ability to demonstrate professionalism on a regular basis
Previous website design and/or CMS experience is preferred
Student Employment Requirements:
Must be a UAS student enrolled in a maximum of six credit hours throughout employment period.
Must maintain a 2.0 cumulative GPA throughout employment period.
